To conserve battery power. Actually, it's only turning the LCD screen off, which is a huge battery hog. If you're out in the field waiting hours for that ___ to come by, you don't want you battery dead from running the LCD screen all the time, but you might miss the shot if you have to take the time to turn the camera on. So the camera "naps" until your subject is in view.

I have a nikon d60. I use to be able to view the image in the window while taking pictures now I can not. I believe my setting are off can u assist me

The D60 doesn't have the LiveView capability to allow you to use the LCD screen to compose your pictures. If it did so in the past, there was something seriously wrong with the camera which apparently has fixed itself now. The D60 works as SLRs have worked for half a century, providing a viewfinder for this purpose.

Help! I have a nikon D60 and all of a sudden I can't see the picture on the sreen before I click to take the photo. Is the battery low or did I hit something I shouldn't have? Thanks

If you could see the picture on the screen before taking it, there was something seriously wrong with your D60, which apparently now seems to have fixed itself. The D60 doesn't have the LiveView feature which allows you to use the screen instead of the viewfinder to compose your picture.

My Nikon D60 monitor is dark...no image preview, however, playback for viewing pictures taken works fine. I use the viewfinder for taking pictures, but wonder if I've done something to turn off the monitor...

No, you have done nothing wrong. The D60 does not have the preview function on the monitor like the compact digital cameras. Nikon gave that function a name. It is called 'Live View'. The newr models like the D90 do have that feature. You can read further about your D60 here: www.digitalcamera-hq.com

Nikon d60 - error. turn camera off and on again.

Locate the button behind the shutter release button with the green dot next to it. Locate the button at the back lower hand side of the D60 with the green dot next to it. Press both buttons at the same time.........This resets the D60 to its original settings and should resolve the problem.....

New Nikon D60 switching itself off...

Go into the menu and scroll to "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. If that doesn't work, you need to take the new Nikon back.

I have a Nikon D60 and when I take a picture, there is no image. Just a white picture. Can someone please help.

Your exposure is set way too high maybe?,
If you are using the manual function then turn the round slider located right beside the ae-l and af-l button to the right until picture sorts itself out.
Or use the twist function settings ontop of the camera and set it to AUTO.
If neither of these works then try going into the menu and selecting reset, do not worry this will not delete your pictures, then then try it out.

Hope it works and you can get back to taking some good pictures!

Wont work

hi...The transmission system that moves the lens in and out has a problem with it's gears. There is most likely a gear or an actuator that has fallen out of alignment and is getting stuck at a certain point as the lens comes in/out.There is some disturbacnce of the lens arrangement that is preventing the lens from coming in/out.Any of these symptoms above could trigger the camera to shut itself off to protect itself from further damage.
thank u
