I'm affraid, only a new housing (or at least the part where the battery holder sits) should solve this problem. There are 4 batteries pushing against the door so when the groves are broken out of the housing it will be difficult to glue anything in place. If it should be my camera, I should try to work with some glass fiber and a two-component adhesive. But not every material will accept glue. If you never have worked with two-component adhesive don't start at all.
Anything can be fixed, its more of a cost thing now. It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

I have no idea about. More than likely you need to buy a new camera. If I had to guess a new lcd will be as much as a new one. Why sink money into an old one, when you can buy a new one.
There;s an stuck up on the mechanical gear inside cause of sudden
outage of battery, i don't really advice this but try to soft slap on
the device just to make that disalign gear back on.
GENERAL, REPAIRS TO THESE TYPE CAMERAS ARE NOT COST FRIENDLY. THEY USUALLY HAVE TO BE MAILED TO A REPAIR CENTER, THE TIME FACTOR IS LONG AND THE COST IS USUALLY STEEP. REPAIRS ARE USUALLY NOT VERY EFFECTIVE, UNLESS THEY ARE FACTORY REFURB. UNITS. THESE ARE EXCELLENT. I WOULD SAY THAT YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE MONEY AHEAD TO JUST REPLACE THE CAMERA. SORRY, BUT MY RESEARCH HAS NOT POINTED TO REPAIR JOBS ON THINGS LIKE THIS. JUST NOT COST EFFECTIVE. HOPE THIS GIVES YOU SOME IDEAS.
Hi ,
The lens cover error is because the stepper motor in the camera is unable to open the lens cover. I have a solution posted in doc "nikon s5 s6 lens cover error repair.doc" uploaded on site http://www.esnips.com/web/papputatiyasStuffIt will be helpfull for you.You have written that your lense is broken. In that case you can follow the procedure given in my doc to open the camera. You can replace the camera lens if broken. Happy debuggingMukesh
I just purchased a new battery door for $15 with shipping from nikon. They sent a simple assembly diagram and I was able to replace the door in 30 minutes. I used a dremel to cut the old door off, but you dont have to do that. I got a little impatient.
Just buy the plastic piece and u can reuse the metal parts for your old battery door.
