SOURCE: my sandisk mp3 player screen broke how can i get it fixed??? please help me!!

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Unplug the sansa and turn it off. Then plug it back into your computer. If it still doesn't recognize it, unplug it and change the usb setting, make sure you highlight it and then press the inner circle or it might change back into the other setting. This worked for me.

How to unlock my SanDisk MP3 Player that i bought in a Federal Prison

Hello, Steve -

There is more than one provider of prison commissary MP3 players.

I believe the Federal Bureau of Prisons SanDisk MP3 players (and the music for them) are sold through Advanced Technology Group (ATG). Regarding the ATG Federal prison provided MP3 player, see the information here:
http://www.corrlinks.com/MP3Reset/

On that page, choose the link for Working MP3 Player Released Inmate. Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader software (free.) The document for that link is a PDF document. Follow the instructions provided in the 2-page PDF document.

In case you need to contact ATG Reset Service (where you will send your MP3 for release of the player and downloaded music), this is the telephone number:
515-453-9520
and this is the email address:
http://www.a-t-g.com/
Source of phone # and email address:

How do I unlock the mp3 player from federal prison?

Hello, Kathy -

If the MP3 player is one from JPay, then . . .

You will need to send the player to JPay to have the company unlock it for you and return it to you.

If JPay is the company which provided the player, this is the link to their Contact Us page, providing a toll free Customer Support number you can call.

If the player was provided through another prison commissary services business, then, you need to identify the company. To do so, choose Comment, here, and type in the company name.

Best wishes.

I'm released from fed prison and need my mp3 player unlock where do I send it to do so or is there a way I can do it myself

Hello, Tara -

I found some information about the Federal prison MP3 players on the Zoukis Prisoner Resources web site (one of the suppliers of services and products to Federal prisons) here:
https://www.prisonerresource.com/prison-survival-guide/things-to-do-in-prison/mp3-players/

At the end of the information on that web page, it states:
(Quote)
When you leave prison you can take your MP3 Player with you, but you will have to mail it to the Advanced Technologies Group, and pay a $15 fee, for them to remove the 14-day revalidation security feature.
(End quote)

However, the article does not provide the address for Advanced Technologies Group to which you can send your MP3 player.

I did find the Advanced Technologies Group (Keefe Group) website however. I know Keefe supplies many products and services to prisons because I know some Keefe Group employees.

This is the link to the Advanced Technologies Group / Keefe Group Contact Us web page. The phone number for Advanced Technologies Group is in Des Moines, Iowa. Call that number and ask to find out about sending your MP3 player to them, with a check or other payment information.

Best wishes.

I have an mp3 player that I purchased while locked up in a Federal prison, I am now at home and want to find out how to remove the security device.

Can you force it to do a "factory reset" ?
This would reset it to a state BEFORE the prison's I.T. team installed any software.
