DLP TV

its an easy repair however i would recomend not even attempting the repair without the service manual as the DLP chassis is completely incased and you will need the info just to get the chassis out , That will explain exactly how to disassemble. once disassembled there are 4 100uf capacitors that are causing the problem. If you would like the full service manual for your set let me know and I will post a link where you can get it emailed and they will provide free support to help you do the repair.

Did your replace lamp come on the screen or did you lose picture? Just because the LED indicator suggest replace lamp it doesn't mean it needs it. If your pix was dull or loss of brightness then replace it, if not then just reset your lamp timer, check your owners manual for instructions.

The Main Board contains the DM circuitry. And you are right, this board does not fail in the way of its predecessors. What is the unit doing?

Your tv is a DLP projection one. In it the image is generated by projecting light on a chip that is covered in tiny mirrors that reflect more or less the light towards the screen. In your case some of those tiny mirrors are no longer controlled - they are immobile and reflect fully the light so you get a white spot on the screen.
The DMD chip that holds the mirrors is dying and you will have to replace it. This is the only place i could find that claims to have it on stock. You can also go thru Ebay, in there you will find second-hand ones extracted from defective tv's.
It's installation is strictly a job for a person with great tv repair experience - too many thins can go wrong in there if the job is not done properly.

The DM boards for that chassis are almost impossible to find if they are still good. Have you tried replacing the caps on the DM board that you have? Thats usually whats wrong are bad caps.
Testimonial: "Hi. Thanks for the info. I did find one cap that domed and replaced it. Not knowing that you had to wait and hit a reset button. I ordered 12 caps that are mentioned in other posts. We'll see what happens then. Thank you again."
