It seems like the door is loose, not sure what the problem is. Dischwasher stops working. We press on the door and it starts working. Would this be the latch, gasket or what?

Make sure the dial that you turn to start the dishwasher is all the way to the beginning. Sometimes my little grandson comes by and plays with it, turning it. I load, add soap and the dispenser won't close. I check the outside dial, and sure enough, set it to the very beginning and the dispenser locks in place!

The latch solenoid may be stuck in the closed position if the door won't go all the way closed and may be stuck in the open position if the door goes to the closed position but doesn't remain latched. Look at the slot that holds the door tab. It may also just be clogged with something.

Ge nautilus dishwasher 165d5450p004 latch won't close

RoselsRose,
Thanks for the info about your grandson coming bye the dishwasher and messing with the dial! My son (14 month old) did the same thing and the soap dispenser door/latch would not stay closed. It just kept springing back open. I thought for sure the latch was broke until I saw your post and went to the outside dial and brought it back to off. Sure enough, the soap dispenser door stays closed. You just saved me an expensive repair! Thanks!

Soap dispenser will not lock closed

This happened to mine, too. there was a wire wrapped around the latch that needed to be unwrapped and then retaped to the rest of the wires. Had to unscrew the front door and then could find the problem.

GE Nautilus GSD3400G00BB

The easy way to fix it would be to empty it and run a quick wash. hopefully the latch is just stuck and it will open up.

Please remember to rate me.

latch is in closed position. to correct, put thin screwdrivers thro the slot at the top and lever the latch up. if the door hook (mounted on the cabinet is metal, bend it down slightly

Advance the timer, with one hand on the dispenser door. The timer should release the door at times during it's cycle, it may need a little help, but not very hard to turn.
