First off, do you have the Sentria's manual? If so, see page 44. ot gives you these options:
1. check to see if the brush is turning. (You can do that by checking the green light on the nozzle.)
2. check the belt
3. Make sure that the belt is on the shaft. (see page 16)
4. Check the brush roll if necessary .
5 Check for wear on the bottom of the nozzle.
6. Check the bag to see if it is full.
7. Check the fill tube for cloggng. The fill tube is what the bag latches onto.
I hope that helps you out

you have to make sure the green light is on.. in the corner .. and if it is that means its working properly. If you have no suction then it is usually the belt and or the bag. so make sure your bag is not full , make sure everything is attatched properly and the green light is on.... The Kirby is the best vac out there and little suction should never be a issue for us.. I am a proud owner of the sentria..Love it..

If the green light is off, then its time to replace the band. This video shows you how.

SOURCE: Wattage for Kirby Sentria G10D
The conversion of Amps to Watts is governed by the equation
Watts = Amps x Volts
For example 1 amp @ 110 volts = 110 watts
your case 7 amp @ 120 volts = 840 watts
unless you are running it at 230v but I don't think you can
I would look for one rated for Volt-Amps instead of watts
It's best to round up to be safe add 40 - 60 watts
