SOURCE: power save mode

Yes, you arent getting a signal to your monitor from your video card. Try replacing. If its onboard then the Mainboard may be bad. These machines are known by Dell to go bad and is covered under warranty, provided you still have it.

The message you are getting is coming from the monitor, not the P.C.

Its telling you you it went into power save since its not getting a video signal from the P.C. Check connections as well.

If your using any kind of splitter, remove it and connect monitor directly to P.C. to be sure.
Good luck

SOURCE: Dell Monitor shuts down with "entering power save mode" command

There are times when you need to install software for a monitor to work with a PC. If you have the software disk that came with the monitor, you can try to install. You can also try changing the power cord to the monitor. Generally, power cords for PC's and monitors are the same. If you use your PC power cord and the monitor comes on saying that there is no connection with a computer, and it was not doing this before, you can get a new power cord for the monitor. If you can, try the monitor with another PC or laptop to rule out a bad monitor.
I hope these suggestions have given you a place to start and that they were helpful.

It's not the light.Your CPU might be already dusty. I also had an experience that was just like you. I just cleaned up my CPU and the noise was gone.

Xps 8700 five beeps and five beeps starts windows goes to power save mode

Sundeep B posted this July 2013 on the DELL.COM>Community>Support Forums>Desktop>Desktop General Hardware Forum

DEL5 beep error code indicates an issue with RTC power and indicates an issue with CMOS battery. You may try reseating CMOS battery. You may refer to Owner's Manual Here. The location of CMOS battery is as shown below :
5342.xps-8700-system_5f00_board_5f00_04.jpg
The video cards mentioned by you should function properly, however, Dell has tested XPS 8700 only with following video cards :
  • nVidia GeForce GTX 660 GTX 645 GTX 650Ti GTX 660
  • AMD Radeon HD 7570 HD8870

No sound hardware found

If you are using the onboard sound driver, make sure you have the latest drivers and software. Same goes if you are using an add-on expansion board sound card.

For the onboard sound card, you will need Realtek ALC3861 Audio Driver installed. You can download this driver directly from Dell's web site by visiting Dell.com and clicking on support.

To make sure they know what model computer you have, enter your computers service tag number. If your machine was built with an OEM addon card, it will list those drivers too!

My dell xps 12 can not detect the wired usb connection

Hi,

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Thanks..

My Studio XPS laptop does not stay powered without being plugged in. Replaced the power adapter in case it was not allowing the battery to charge. Ran dianostics on the battery and no problems with it. ...

Yes. If the battery is still ok and the ac adapter had been replaced, then it could already be a problem with the motherboard.
You may try to flash the BIOS of the motherboard first, here's the link:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=STUDIOXPS13&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Select your operating system and download the driver under BIOS, saved on your computer and run it.

If that does not fix the problem, call Dell to have them check the motherboard.

Screen is black after sleep/hib, Dell studio XPS, Vista.

Hibernate problems are generally associated with the Video Driver. Suggestions:
  1. Update the BIOS to the current release. Here is the latest for the 1645. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&ServiceTag=&SystemID=STUDIOXPS1645&os=WV64&osl=en&catid=&impid=
  2. Update the video driver.

DELL M1530 shutdown

I doubt the nic driver is to blame but might as well visit the Dell site, enter your service tag and be sure you have all of the needed and recommended files for this device on your machine. Next, I'd ensure my power settings are the way I want and then I'd run a check with A/V and Superantispyware in safe mode. BTW, is there anything interesting in the E/V?

Printer will default to "save as" screen when que to print

In administrator login the default printer is "Microsoft XPS Document Writer", make sure that the default printer is the HP Printer.
OR
You have to change in the Print dialog box, select the HP Printer instead of "Microsoft XPS Document Writer"
