New schlage deadbolt stuck in locked position

Schlage deadbolt is 1 month old. Locking it with a partial turn is okay but I turned lock with key completely clockwise until it "clicked" : then it impossible to open with key from outside.
Alignment and strike plate are okay.

Make sure that the tang from the lock side actually engage the mechanism in other side of the door. If the tang is too short or not engaged the lock will not work. Also check that the two screws connecting the lock to the other side is actually tight.

Keyless schlage lock opens when schlage button is pushed

  1. Remove the two screws on the back plate.
  2. Disconnect the battery
  3. Remove the two screws on the inside of the lock so that you can remove the entire lock.
  4. Once you have removed the lock from the door take the backplate in hand
  5. Right above the orange plastic piece there is a small black egg shaped cam.
  6. Turn the black egg shaped cam to the side and then turn it back down so that the arrow is pointing down.
  7. If you do this right the deadbolt will stay in the unlocked position. The deadbolt will not retract when you turn the cam because it should be completely disconnected
  8. Once you do this correctly you will reinstall the lock in the unlocked position.
This also will fix the light not coming on when you press the Schlage button.

Why won't my schlage deadbolt key go to the neutral spot in the lock position to remove the key?

You likely have the lever that goes from the outside portion of the lock through the striker/bolt assembly into the inside portion rotated into an incorrect position when you insert it into the striker/bolt assembly.

How do I fix a Schlage deadbolt. B60 series will not unlock from the inside unless the key is inserted from the outside

With the door open, remove the interior trim (thumb turn) from the door, and using the key, turn the deadbolt to the locked position. Now re-install the thumb turn, in the locked position, and with the key removed see if you are able to unlock the deadbolt. I suspect that the tailpiece (part that sticks out of the lock cylinder and into the thumb turn) is not in the correct position.

I have a two month old Schlage door lock recently I went to get a new copy of Schlage keys. I tried it one time it work and a week pass suddenly my new keys doesn't work and even the original key, it...

Hello My name is Lori and I work at Schlage Customer Service. If this is not a Schlage Key it may be possible that they did not cut the key to the correct code. Look on your key for the 5-digit key code and make sure the keys align up exactly - the keys also should be the same width. Also when you install this B362 you should install it with the katch extended and the keys out of the cylinder. Try some of these tips and if you still need help - please feel free to call us at Schlage Customer Service: 1-888-805-9837 Good Luck!

Schlage camelot key pad does not engage exterior locking knob when you press the schlage button. I have tried three different locks.

Here is a link to the installation instructions:

http://consumer.schlage.com/Project%20Documents/P515-858.pdf

It sounds like you may have the Turn Lock Feature disabled. View and scroll down in the instruction sheet to the Troubleshooting portion, where it says " Pressing (the) Schlage (button) does not rotate deadbolt" The solution is to push the PC button, then the Schlage button, then 7 to enable the turn lock feature.

Can I lock my house from the outside using my key pad?

You may indeed use your key. The key will push inward about 1/2in when it is in the correct position to turn the locking/unlocking mechanism, the keypad will be still active

Schlage deadbolt installed about a month ago. The key will not turn the lock from inside but will from outside. Any suggestions?

my guess is that during installation the inside lock cylinders were 1/2 or a full rotation more in one direction than the outside cylinders. remove it from the door, assemble it and try it without installing it. If it doesn;'t work, take it back. If it's old, oil it. if that doesn't work- toss it- you've spent an hour on a $15 item.

Schlage deadbolt will not unlock even with the use of a key?

it sounds as though the linkage that pulls the deadbolt back has disengaged... if you undo the screws from the inside of the door and remove the manual knob there will be 2 more screws holding the key lock to the door. A thin flat bar is attached to the key lock that goes through the deadbolt and into the manual knob. This bar turns with the key, sliding the bolt on its track to lock and unlock the door. Once the lock is apart check the key in the lock to see if the bar turns when the key does. then see if there is anything that may be obstructing the deadbolt from sliding. The locks are pretty indestructible so if there is a problem it may have been from the install... perhaps the door is to wide for the lock to engage properly and the lock worked loose in the 6 months that it worked.
