SOURCE: sidekick 3 dropped in a cup of water. Water got into screen.

Is the screen blank all the time?

If you look really hard can you see the items on the screen but they are really dark? If so the back light for the lcd may have burned out.

Take a look at the following site for instructions on disassembly.

http://www.gsfx.org/disassembly/index.htm

If you feel comfortable with it, you can easily replace your own.
A new lcd runs about 50 dollars shipped. If you buy it from ebay, they will usually come with instructions and the screwdriver you need. A T6 torx driver is the type needed.

Good job on drying it out and pulling the battery. Thats the best thing you can do when you get it wet!

SOURCE: Wet phone has black screen

You took all the right steps, including the rice. Unfortunately, even the rice method doesn't always catch the moisture before it does it's damage. The next step is to take the phone back to the store where you purchased it and have them see if it is salvageable. The other thing to check is where you stand with your contract. You may be able to replace the phone by extending your contract. good luck.

SOURCE: wet cell phone-blank screen

Well it depends on the type of screen you have in the phone. Some have edges that can split open and lose the fluid that projects the picture so your best bet is to just replace the phones screen, if every thing else works fine

Hi, Ihave a C:21:00 symbol in my screen...and another one look like a water drop....I can't put my cassette inside the machine...what can I do ???? Thank's Isabelle

The water drop is a condensation warning- the camera has sensed damp in the works. Damp will cause the tape to stick and get tangled in the transport mechanism, so you need to dry the camera (and tapes) out thoroughly before proceeding. Leave them in a warmish dry place for a day or so- longer if needed.

DON"T TURN IT ON AGAIN UNTIL YOU KNOW IT IS COMPLETELY DRIED OUT!!!!

Sometime electroncis can be salvaged if they are not turned on again until after they are dry.

The electrolytes...(sugars, salts) can cause the electric current flowing through the device to arc accross connections causing a short. It may be too late to save your iTouch, but for the future if you can dry out the device before trying to turn it on again with a blow dryer or napkins or whatever you have handy it may save it.

Try drying it out and then turning it back on...it may or may not work as the damage may have been done already.

I hope this helps you in the future. Good Luck!

Laptop keyboard needs cleaning

I had a client with that problem--we removed the keyboard and tried to clean it. Turns out that our cleaning job was less than perfect because the laptop keyboard is mostly sealed. There was liquid that seeped down onto the motherboard as well--that we could clean up. The long and short of is--you will probably need to replace the keyboard. Of course, with nothing to lose, you could wash the keyboard and let it dry out thoroughly, plug it in, and see if it works. The key here would be the thorough drying. If you decide to try this chancy procedure, don't dry it with high heat. A hair dryer set on low might be the answer.

Dropped sennheiser mkh-60 p48 in water

Hi,
Wow, nice mic, I hope it survived.
If the mic wasn't powered on when dropped into the water, you may have a better chance, but even still, if may have survived. How pure was the water? If normal drinking water, just open it up as much as you safely can, and give it a day or two to dry out THOROUGHLY, inspect for any signs of corrosion, put it back together and try it.
If it was something akin to pond water, or salt water, or a swimming pool, IMMEDIATELY open it up as much as you safely can, and flush it with as pure and as filtered water as you can. Again, give it a day or two to dry thoroughly, inspect for any signs of corrosion, put it back together and try it.
If it doesn't behave normally, contact Sennheiser for advice, and perhaps they can better help with cleaning, or maybe you can just get by with having the element replaced, etc.
good luck!

Went through the wash !

First of all, do not try to power it on, plug it in, or press any buttons. I would flip the hold swith on top so you see orange so none of that happens. You need to be sure that all of it is dry first. However, realize that something probably bumped it enough to turn it on in the wash too, which could have zapped it pretty well. I would let it sit to dry for at least a week. I know it sounds terrible, but you need to be absolutely sure that it is dry. One tiny drop can ruin a whole ipod, if it is not already broken. There should be edges that are barely noticeable, but if you can pry them open with something really thin, without warping the plastic, you could get it open to dry. Just be very careful not to touch anything inside, because oils on your skin can be just as harmful as water. Good luck, and let me know what happens.

Good morning; My grandson has a Nintendo DS and he dropped it in a puddle of water. It does not work; it wont turn on. Can you help. We tried charging it and drying it with a hair dryer. My email...

I'm having the same problem, too. My sister dropped it in the bathtub, and then turned on the power without letting it dry. The DS still turns on and hold charges, but the screens are messed up with flickers and blurs.
As I know, if you drop it in the water, do not turn on the power or it will be fried. Just let it dry, and then power up again to see if it still works. If you already turned on the power while there was still water in it, it's toasted.
