What is an equivalent mosfet to a 3588 in an Ottlite 18 W 240V fluoro circuit?
The 3588 mosfet has burned out and Ottlite in USA will not provide circuit details. I am searching for an equivalent device to replace the faulty mosfet.

Internal circuit must have been damage.When overheating occurred within the circuit unexpectedly there is a short circuit happened in the circuit.Means that two lines were no longer separated by a non conductive substance.It gives high current flowing within the system and wire capacity is beyond what is the actual current flowing.That why non conductive substance will be burned out and yuo can smell something bad.try to check internal circuit using a tester.if their has been short circuit happened in the system.
Normally when the motor is easily moved back and forth means that it have a proper lubrication,proper alignment and no clogs.
When the motor and the belt is OK the problem could be on electrical wiring and switch.
If found electrical switch burned out you need to replaced it because when the switch is burn the contact of that switch is open even you turn it ON.that's why the motor is not function because the voltage is not pass through the circuit because of open switch.You need to replaced it. And check some fuses if any and other burned electrical wire.Replaced it also.

My guess is you didnt get the correct value lamp for your application. Sears doesnt have the proper lamp for your machine - of you didnt want to get it from them?
Try again at Sears or RepairClinic.com for the proper lamp.
is the headlight working,if not there is a circuit board inside the base that is probably burned up.i have the same thing now i need to find the circuit board
