Trying to remove a flywheel on a ryobi ex26 weed trimmer to see if the seal is leaking oil. every time we run the trimmer we have a lot of oil on the bottom of the engine. It seems to be leaking around where the flywheel is so Im thinking it may be the seal around the shaft that the flywheel is attached to. However I cant get the flywheel off and I dont know how to remove it. Do I need a certain flywheel puller or will a universal puller work. Tried to find info on removal and for the tool but no luck so far. pleas help... rick
SOURCE: Ryobi string trimmer 32.1 what do mix gas and oil or just gas?
Ryobi trimmers I have had use a 32:1 oil mix. Just pick up a little bottle of Ryobi 2-cycle oil and read it to see that it will give a 32:1 mix in a gallon of gas. Pour it into a gallon of gas, and maybe a little fuel stabilizer too, shake it up and you should be good for the season.

The lower flex shaft should cost around $40, unless you order it online and have to pay shipping. You should be able to get one from your local MTD dealer. (Ryobi is owned by MTD)

This sounnds too good to be true, but believe it!
The next time you run the trimmer and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. It should start to run again. This means that the gas cap is clogged. Either clear the gas cap or buy a new one. This should solve the problem.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Sounds like the clutch has taken a long trip south. If the clutch pads are not wore out, try some wd40 on the pad hinges.
