How do you remove the flywheel on a ryobi ex26 weed trimmer, do you need a flywheel puller and if so where can i buy one at

Trying to remove a flywheel on a ryobi ex26 weed trimmer to see if the seal is leaking oil. every time we run the trimmer we have a lot of oil on the bottom of the engine. It seems to be leaking around where the flywheel is so Im thinking it may be the seal around the shaft that the flywheel is attached to. However I cant get the flywheel off and I dont know how to remove it. Do I need a certain flywheel puller or will a universal puller work. Tried to find info on removal and for the tool but no luck so far. pleas help... rick

SOURCE: Ryobi string trimmer 32.1 what do mix gas and oil or just gas?

Ryobi trimmers I have had use a 32:1 oil mix. Just pick up a little bottle of Ryobi 2-cycle oil and read it to see that it will give a 32:1 mix in a gallon of gas. Pour it into a gallon of gas, and maybe a little fuel stabilizer too, shake it up and you should be good for the season.

SOURCE: Replacing Drive Shaft for a Ryobi 725r

The lower flex shaft should cost around $40, unless you order it online and have to pay shipping. You should be able to get one from your local MTD dealer. (Ryobi is owned by MTD)

SOURCE: Ryobi EX26 dies when hot, won't start, then when cool starts

This sounnds too good to be true, but believe it!

The next time you run the trimmer and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. It should start to run again. This means that the gas cap is clogged. Either clear the gas cap or buy a new one. This should solve the problem.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Sounds like the clutch has taken a long trip south. If the clutch pads are not wore out, try some wd40 on the pad hinges.

Ryobi RY251PH trimmer, how to remove flywheel

The same answer as I replied yesterday. You use a flywheel extractor kit or a 3 legged puller. The flywheel is on a Morse taper with a half moon keyway.

..And the same videos as yesterday plus one. All the engines are the same as far as flywheels go.

Ryobi ry251ph weed eater how to remove flywheel

You will need a flywheel extractor that screws into the centre, or a 3 legged puller. The flywheel is on a tapered shaft called a 'Morse Taper' and a half moon key to keep it in the correct position.

Husqvarna 128CD weed eater. The flywheel is tight, piston is at bottom when flywheel magnet is in contact with coil. How can I change it to correct position.

The flywheel key has likely sheared. Contemporary utility 2-cycle flywheel keys are integrated into the flywheel. A new flywheel will be likely be required.

Ryobi problems

Try not removing any parts unless you are confident of putting it back properly. Use a small pen knife to cut the trapped grass but be careful of your fingers.

What is the air gap between the coil and flywheel on Ryobi 700r weed trimmer

Set it at about .010"-.012". That is about the thickness of a standard business card (which many use to do just this same repair).
