The battery you found (CR1220) is for the camera memory.IE time and date.Chances are the batteries that were installed are dead. Also check the contacts on either end of the batteries and clean if needed.

That battery is for keeping the date and time settings when you take the regular battery out.

SOURCE: Hi Where can I find the

I looked for the 1220 and couldn't find it at Walgreens, Walmart, or Target. I'm going to try Radio Shack or a camera store. The battery is in the battery compartment, which contains the AAs, the memory card, and a little plastic cover that says CR 1220. You have to get a fingernail under the tab to pull the battery slot out. It's a tiny button-size. If you do a google search for Powershot 650 change battery cr1220, you'll find a site with a picture on it.

When I turn on my camera it asks for date and time but when I try to set it the camera shuts off

It's usually because you need to change the internal battery for a new one, very easily located next to the battery port, directly underneath pull it up and replace it with a new CR1220 and replace the batteries too just to be on the safe side

Why Canon powershot not holding date

Most likely the date back up battery needs replacing. It is at the bottom left of your camera. Remove the cover and replace the button battery. Please check the battery number (probably CR1220 Lithium 3.0) and and install it right way round. Don't use metallic tweezers to hold the battery as it will short-circuit and drain the battery.

Powershot not keeping date

Make sure the CR1220 battery is installed and seated correctly (try turning it over.) Make sure it is making good contact. Another possibly, the new battery is bad, test it with a meter if you have one.

My A540 Digital Camera will not keep date and time. I replaced all batteries.

Did you also replace the CR1220 clock battery, located behind the tiny slide out door labeled "CR1220" (see this pic)?

How to remove flat battery from canon power shot A550

Look at the little door labeled CR1220 in this picture. Pry it open with your fingernail, and take the battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement (should be around $3).. Note that W-mart for some reason is expensive for the common CR1220 battery compared to retail drug stores.

I have a Canon Powershot A560. The date and time stamp do not work. I checked the manual and it says to replace the battery located under the flip-up panel on the left side of the camera. I can not...

Think your problem is that you are looking in the wrong spot. Don't know why your manual is telling you to look there (are you sure your manual is for the A560)?
Your CR1220 date/time battery is located in the regular battery compartment. Look right beside your AA batteries. You'll see a little flap labeled "CR1220". Slide this open with your fingernail, and take the little coin battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement.

n your battery compartiment is a small cover labeled CR1220.

PLEASE READ MANUAL on how to open it.

Behind that cover you will find a coin shaped battery, provably type CR1220.

PLEASE READ MANUAL on how to remove it.

Get a replacement battery (watch store/ camera store/...)

The date and time will not save on my canon powershot a560 when it is turned off and on.

Open your battery door. Notice inside that there's a little slide door inside labeled CR1220. Pry open this little slide door and remove and reinsert the encased watch battery (this battery powers the camera's clock). Removing and reinserting might fix it temporarily, but more than likely this battery is getting very low. Recommend going to your local drugstore's battery section and buying a replacement CR1220 battery. They're very common and inexpensive (a few bucks).
