SOURCE: laptop touchpad no longer does tap function

on the bottom bar by the clock, if your computer is newer there should be a small icon that controls your mouse. Simply right click on it and check the box "tap to click" or similar. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Shortage?

There is a ribbon cable between the laptop & the screen. It sounds like you have a short in that cable. If you're not good with tedius electronic repairs, it would be best to have a shop repair it.

Im using emachines n 214... touchpad is not working why?

Go into the control panel, find the deviceicon1.png manager, and then find the touch pad in the list. Right click on it and select enable. Or Function key (FN) + F7 should enable the touch pad.

Let me know if this helps,

Sincerely,

My touchpad is working only as a mouse, the tapping is not working..why is that ? I have an aspire 3680 mouse work and the 2 click buttons too only tapping is not working. I have check all drivers and they...

1. Go to control panel
2. open mouse options
3. click the device settings tab and you should see your touch pad as one of the devices.
4. Make sure your touch pad is highlighted and click the settings button
5. one of the options is tapping, and you can enable it here

That should get your mouse to click on touch pad taps.

Good Luck!

My hp 4520s probook's mouse pad got locked accidentally, and it's not unlocking by double tapping on the light button on the mouse pad. please help me with this asap.

First, try double tapping the light again. You may have just mis-tapped.

Next try restarting the laptop. Certain laptops re-enable the track pad on restart so long as a USB mouse isn't connected.

If that fails, navigate to the Mouse Settings on your PC and re-enable it there. If you have a USB mouse you can use that. If not, you can use the keyboard. Windows Key will launch the Start Menu, arrow keys can highlight options, Enter will click on them, Control+Tab and Control+Shift+Tab will switch tabs (in a window that has tabs).

In Windows XP and 7 (and probably Vista), Mouse Settings is located at Control Panel > Mouse > Settings.

My mouse pad in my computer wont work when i tap it

It will depend on what touch pad (and related software) is installed on the particular computer, but you will find the tap option under the Control Panel. Open your control panel, select "Mouse" There will be a TAB in the mouse properties called "touchpad" (surprise, surprise!) where you can toggle tapping on/off.

Hope this helps. PS: if you DONT see the touchpad option - you will first need to install the drivers/software for your touchpad. Most HP touchpads are the Synaptics Touch Pads - Find the drivers here: --> Click here!

How do you turn off the touch pad

Some notebook users find the touch pad annoying because at times, while typing fast, their thumbs accidentally brush up against the touchpad. This is frustrating because the mouse cursor jumps to a random location on the screen and can cause undesirable things.

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Mouse touch-pad

Click Start > Control Panel > Mouse > Device Settings (tab) > Settings (right hand side, immediately under the white box with your touch pad device listed)

Select "Tapping" on the left and make sure it is enabled.
If tapping was enabled, go to "Sensitivity" on the left and adjust the touch settings.

Thanks for using the FixYa forums!

Toshiba touch pad not working to tap of finger

First got to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Mouse(or there may be a separate Touch Pad setup) and check were options for touchpad Settings Options are tabbed or listed.

All touchpads allow on/off settings for Tap or NoTap. Also, check Sensitivity Settings. If very low, then Tap would have to be very hard to be recognized.

Next, reboot your computer.

Go to the 'start' button and then hit the 'control panel' option, then click 'mouse' then go to 'Device Settings' and then to the 'settings'. When you get to this screen it shows a list on lthe left hand side choose the 'tapping' option and then ok.
