What causes white and pink bars on screen - Samsung HLR5667W 56" Rear Projection HDTV

This can be a common problem with laptop screen when white goes pink. This is caused by a faulty cable that runs from the laptop motherboard to the inverter just under the screen.

The cable becomes stretched after a while by movement of the laptop lid which pulls a pin from the cable.

What i suggest you do is take the laptop to PC repair store and have them fit a new video cable or order a replacement video cable from eBay and replace the cable yourself.

Don't be fooled by the preconception that its a bad CCFL bulb (backlight) as this is not the case.

disconnect all the cables except the power cable and then turn the monitor on you would see a test screen if it still happens your monitor is faulty and better buy a new one as repairing is usually expensive .
also check you warenty its usually 3 years

The display hardware is damaged. Most likely you will need to replace your screen. In rare instances, this can be caused by a loose ribbon connector from the display to the display adapter board.

Regarding this issue you might have an issue with your analog video board, or digital video board, probably one of these parts is not sending exact image that it's receiving, You might want to check with a tech that can check the TV physically. Hope i could be on assistance.

laurie515, Gee, I hope it's a 'pretty pink' colour. Do you really mean that What was once WHITE or VERY Lite GRAY is now appearing pink??? Laurie515 you must tell us more. How old is this unit? 4-6 yrs? I suspect that the "Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent-Tubes" that are hanging on the rear of the LCD glass panel and provide white light, have over time, now become tired out. YOU WILL NOT FIX IT!! IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Here are some options. 1. Trade in for new if yours is >4yrs old. 2. Check for swapout program with ACER? This is only a dim Maybe thing. You send them yours +$50-$100 and they return a refurbished unit. 3. Find local TV/Monitor Repair shop that knows all about LCD monitor repair. there are also guys on fixya that do LCD refurbishing (new ccf tubes/inverter/smps) Do some web searches on LCD monitor failures and also visit youtube for vid clips of monitor disassembly if you want to see the insides of a typical LCD monitor.

the light engine is defective if you have black bars that look pink.

My Dell monitor is showing odd splotches of colored bars.....turquoise bars and pink bars. What is causing this?

Sounds as though the white balance is off, check your manual on how to alter the white balance to manual - then change it back to auto. It should fix it.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE MAIN BOARD IS BAD. THERE IS 2 DIFFERENT VERSIONS FOR THIS SET .AM02 UNITS OR VERSION 0001 UNITS. THE PART NUMBER IS BN94-00695E. THEY BOTH ARE ABOUT $210 + $50 CORE.
