If you're referring to your display brightness, you can control this in your Settings. Use the Settings App and Open the Brightness &Wallpaper menu. Select the brightness level on the slider and flip to auto-brightness if you like. This will adjust brightness based on ambient lighting detected by your front-facing camera. If that's causing you problems, disable the auto-brightness and just control it manually from the slider.

If your keyboard doesn't have a brightness control button (mine is F6), open System Preferences and click on the Displays control panel. Move the brightness slider to the right to increase brightness. If you don't want the computer to automatically adjust brightness uncheck the box next to Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes.

Adjusting brightness automatically using adaptive brightness

Adaptive brightness is a feature in Windows that uses a light sensor to automatically adjust the display brightness to match the lighting conditions in your computer's surroundings.

To use adaptive brightness, you must have light sensors installed and enabled on your computer.

To determine if your laptop or computer monitor supports adaptive brightness, look for the Enable adaptive brightness setting in Power Options (mentioned in the following procedure) or check the information that came with your computer.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off

Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

Under any plan, click Change plan settings.

Click Change advanced power settings.

In the list, expand Display, and then expand Enable adaptive brightness.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is running on battery power, click On battery, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is plugged into an outlet, click Plugged in, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

Click Apply. Click OK.

DOME LIGHT STAYING ON BECAUSE YOU HAVE BAD DOOR SWITCH OR BRIGHTNESS SWITCH ON HEADLIGHT SWITCH THAT CONTROL DASH BRIGHTNESS AND IF BRIGHTNESS SWITCH IN FULL ON POSITION ON HEAD LIGHT SWITCH IT WILL CAUSE DOME LIGHT TO STAY ON.

You must find the 'brightness' control. Usually there are buttons on the front of the monitor. You push the left button, move over one button, select brightness, move over one button, and adjust the brightness.

You probably checked this, but sometimes we forget.
The dial on the dashboard to the left of the instrument panel controls the brightness of the instrument panel lights. Turn the dial to adjust the brightness. Also, to reduce glare at night, the fuel and temperature gauges dim when you turn on the parking lights or headlights. You then adjust their brightness when you adjust the instrument panel brightness.
Turn the dial up as far as it will go to return the fuel and temperature gauges to their daytime brightness.
