Make sure your cd drive is the first boot device. Go into your bios and go to the BOOT tab. Select your cd drive as the first device. You may also have to pull out your ram sticks and put them back in. Make sure tou take out the battery and ac power is not connected when dealing with the ram.

Factory reset compaq presario cq60

I assume you don't have a recovery CD.
So look on your hard drive maybe there is already a second partition for recovery.
Search in programs for recovery solution.
If you don't find anything, try to restart and wait for the HP or Compaq Logo and press F10 repeatedly, follow the instructions and computer will restart if finished with recovery.

I forgot my password

If you could use another computer which could download from Internet, you can create a windows password recovery disk. Third party windows password recovery software windows login recovery could create such a disk. Only four steps:

Step 1: Download Windows Login Recovery and install it on the available computer
Step 2: Run the software and use it to burn a Windows password recovery disk (you could burn the file into the blank CD/DVD or USB flash drive)
Step 3: Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from the CD-ROM (Start computer and press F2 or Delete to enter BISO setup)
Step 4: Boot your locked computer from the created disk and remove the Windows password

It is easy and safe. Hope to help you.

I need help resetting my computer to its factory default settings it is a compaq presario cq60-615dx

Hello,

to reset your laptop, restart your computer and constantly press F11 once the first black screen on your laptop displays, or the Compaq logo display. Your computer will automatically load to recover manager and you can factory restore you computer from there.

2nd option: click start menu, click all programs and scroll to "Hp backup and recovery" or "Backup and recovery" click it and proceed for the factory default setting.

Good luck.

Compaq Presario CQ60 recovery disc how to use

insert the disc into the drive, restart the computer. If it doesn't boot from disc, restart again.
As it restarts, press and hold F8(may be F2 or F12 depending on the settings)until the boot options screen appears. Using the arrow up/down keys select drive "d" or what ever drive letter represents the drive you put the disc into.
It will now(or should) continue to boot from the disc, follow the onscreen instructions to restore.
