If my laptop overheats will it make the screen black? I was using it without a problem earlier today. Went to use it again & the screen was black. Restarted, but I do not hear all the noises that normally occur during restart and the screen is still black. What can I do? Thanks

A laptop that overheats has serious problem on it in the first place. It needs a technician to look at the laptop to see what is wrong with it.

I learned recently that, since I purchased mine with a VISA card, VISA automatically doubled my warranty to extend it to a second year. Hope this helps someone else.

Run a SCANDISK on the hard drive. That is referencing a drive sector, so by running a scandisk it will attempt to solve the errors and block the sector from being used.

Scandisk can be found by right-clicking the C: drive in MY COMPUTER then choosing TOOLS. Checkthe drive for errors. When you ge the YES/NO option box to run it when you reboot tell it YES and then reboot the PC.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion DV7 Display problem

How long have the colors on your display been "reversed/inverted" and looking like a negative....... Did you drop or damage the laptop in any way (sudden shock/bump)? Also, has it been allowed to overheat (if you run the laptop while it is sitting on a soft surface such as a bed, pillow, couch, etc it can allow the motherboard to overheat because it cannot get the airflow through the cooling system through the fan/vents because they are blocked). Have you checked to see if your laptop is included in the "HP Service Enhancement" program???

Screen issue for dell inspiron 5110, I dropped my laptop earlier today fron about a foot n a half drop, the back of the screen is what hit the ground first, the screen was fine though, not shattered but it...

The screen's connection is loose or something is broken inside. I suggest that you have it checked by a technician but if you can do it, then you better check the connections.
I hope this helps!

I don't kno whats wrong with it it was working fine last night. I was using it then the screen went black. Its turn on still but theres no regualr start up or safe mode boot just a black screen.

Can mean alot of things but try removing the battery & and the ram, leave it for sometime and place it back in the system. try run it again.

if not working, try this, remove the Hard drive and boot the laptop without the hard drive or disk. sometimes hard disk causes the system not to display anything on the screen when you switch on.
then you have to get a new hard drive to reinstall the system again.
