Video Cassette is being automatically ejected when I insert it for viewing

SONY RDR-VX515 Video Cassette Recorder/DVD Recorder: It is in video mode. I put in a video cassette. and the machine says "eject" and pops it back out automatically. i pulled the plug and let it re-initiate. i have held down the power button. i have used video cassette tapes that are new and used and have the record tabs in place for recording and not. This just started. Has been working fine otherwise for years.

You need to take the cover off and look inside to see if there is something inside that should not be. Perhaps you can look with a flashlight through the entrance hole. You could pick up the machine and shake it and see if anything is rattling around. These things have many plastic and nylon parts which can break over time and the machine will sense a problem and eject. If you cannot find a problem by the suggestions above then it will need to go for repair-unfortunately it would probably cost more than it is worth to have it repaired.

SOURCE: Gold Star VC681M - recording from VHS to DVD

This device can not record from VCR to DVD locally not a DVD recorder. However you can record from this device to your computer save the file as a wma and then burn that file to a DVD and then watch the DVD on the DVD player. This player can decode wma files: Here is a site to get the owners manual from: http://www.lge.com/support/manual.jsp Here is how the page looks:

SOURCE: VCR EJECT FAILURE

When a tape won't eject, the problem can be caused by several things. The most common problem is that the belt that operates the eject mechanism is slipping and not allowing it to eject the tape. This can be fixed by either using a re-grip solution on the belt or having the belt replaced. With the cover off (be careful not to touch anything live with power) and try loading and unloading a tape. Try to find the motor and belt which operates the loading mechanism. When it "catches" as you say, try moving the belt pulley with your finger to give it a little help and see if it continues on with the operation. If it does, the belt is probably slipping. It takes more effort on the belt & pulley during an eject sequence rather than the a load sequence, so it may load fine but have trouble ejecting. Gravity and the weight of the tape is why you may not have this problem during the load sequence.

I have hundreds of very valuable and irreplaceable DVDs made on this machine which although "finalized" will only play on this machine and on no other. The machine is now broken- they say the DVD...

You could buy one on E-Bay. Click on the link below, but if you really finalized the DVDs, they should play on other components.
The Sony like yours below is $149.95 and you can buy it now, not bid on it as normally done on e-bay.
Last resort you can take them to a video transfer service, so all is not lost.

CAN VIEW THE DVD ON A COMPUTER OR THE DVD RECORDER BUT NOT ON DVDS PLAYERS BOUGHT BEEFORE THE RECORDER

This is quite common of older players. Some only work with DVD+R discs and others with DVD-R discs.
Some player also does not read recordable discs (an early form to try prevent piracy)
Also make sure if recorded on your Recorder, that the disc is finalized before you try to play it on an older player. (See your menu / manual on the recorder for the procedure)

Cannot get DVD out of Sony RDR-VX515. DVD won't eject.

Purely gear problem. The ejector either ran out of alignment or belting has worn out. Solve this issue and ur player will work perfectly again.

Though Connection details are available in DVD recorder User Manual, yet here is procedure. Find Video Audio Out terminal on Cassette Recorder SLV-SE610G and hook Yellow-Red-White cable in matching color pins and other end of cable will hook in Video Audio Input terminals at DVD Recorder RDR-GX3 and please note, same color pins will be hooked. Insert desired VHS cassette in VCR and push Playback. select input source at DVD Recorder and confirm playback picture and sound of vcr at TV. Now system is ready to record VHS movie on DVD.
