Our Visio 42" flat screen TV did the same thing. It didn't happen that often but sometimes it would go darker or the sound would go off until I changed the channel or turned TV Off then back On. I contacted Visio through my warranty and they sent me a flash drive to install info on my TV. Did not fix the problems. A year later before warranty ended I contacted Visio again. They sent a huge box for me to pack my TV in to send to the warehouse where they fix everything. It took about 2 wks. to get it back. Worked fine for about 4 months and the problems continued. I will not buy another Visio TV. I found out that they had many problems with several models.
AV inputs are for standard analog video which is 480i. HDMI and Component inputs are the high definition inputs that run at either 1080i or 1080p You won't ever get 1080i or p through AV inputs.
If the set had an extended warranty this would be no problem--consider having a shop take a look to see what is wrong and what cost to repair might be.
Unplug your TV and then plug it back in, let it flash on and off without doing anything for 5 minutes or so and then turn it on. It does it once amonth or so for some reason.
On the vizio remote go to menu then picture then click the more button then advanced pic then turn off ambient light sensor and bscklight control. I also had to play around with the backlight #
Unfortunately Best Buy has many manufactuers making this brand for them. Samsung is one of their biggest manufacture. They now have been using Visio since they opened up stores in China. Who ever makes it the cheapest. Blessings, A/V Media Guy
Doing some warranty work for Visio, I ran into this same problem. I replaced the video and power boards, among other things. Turned out to be a bad panel, which isnt viable to replace. Best to get Visio to agree they made a lemon (as all their products are in my humble opinion) and have them send you a new tv, or even better, buy a tv that is NOT a visio. You can get great deals on LG and Samsung these days, both decent quality tvs.
