I have Sony Dcr -hc15e is not display on the lcd screen any help? The screen shows plain white . help pls But i left it unuse for month and the screen swore up a bit with black ink in the middle when it display plain white any way to replace the screen?
is it able to record audio? are you able to see the indicators on the lcd screen? are you able to playback previous tapes with recording...if you say yes to all of the questions, there is no doubt that you dont have an issue with the lcd screen. the issue that your having is with the ccd imaging sensor. sony has a recall program for this specific model yrs back, unfortunately its already been discontinued and if you send it to them,it will be treated as an out-of-warranty repair.
The flex wire connecting LCd with camcorder is a problem. Mine was the same then after went black and all touch functions were ok.I changed it by miself it's cheaper, and it's like new DCR-SR32. The wire I got from the repair shop. The nubers are on the flex wire.Good luck

I believe the CCD ( Charger Couple Device ) was defective it like image sensor it take the picture from the CAM lens and processing, It delicated to replace it you need specials instrument to align and software to setup colour and white balance
I sugges bring it to Sony or Sony service center to repair it

I do not see any mirror either in lcd section of your Sony DCR-DVD101 camera as you can see in below picture. Please let me know your problem with details.
The problem is the ribbon cable connecting the circuit board to the LCD display.It is not very hard to replace but I have no idead from where to buy it.The missing red color is just the beggining,now my LCD sometimes turn to white and I can't see anything on it.
There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks

( color is separate there ) if color looks ok
out of the s - video , there may be a loose
composite video connector cable inside camera
( warranty is void - if you open it to check ) ;
