Does anybody have advice for recording issues with a Techwood AEDVDRS7?

I have a techwood AEDVDRs7, which has worked pervectly for the last couple of years. Now, when recording (from various recordings on the skybox) , the picture will freeze on screen or go blank entirely. The disk will not stop recording either when the stop button is pressed. The disk timer will freeze at whatever time the recording has problems, even though the red record light remains on. Also when not recording the red STOP sign will randomly pop up in the bottom right corner, although no action has been performed. DVDs had a breif spell of playing for a couple of mins then skipping back a chapter or defaulting to the main menu? anybody have any ideas??
