Al generators are different and will output different amps depending on the power rating and the power being used in any plugged in device. A simple calculation is to divide the power rating of your generator by the voltage produced to give the amps. So if you have a 2000 watt generator giving 12v DC, you will be drawing 166.6 amps maximum. If your plugged in device is using, say 50 watts, like a bulb, it will be drawing 4.16 amps.

A power on board veco12pob 450 amp jump starter please: What is minimum amps to charge? How test jump pack ?

You should need 12V of DC Voltage at about 5mA which is equivalent to .5 Amp or 1/2Amp. 1000mA(milliamps) is Equivalent to 1 Amp. See the included pics- one is of my Charging Unit for a Nearly Identical Jumper Box. Hopefully this helps.

You can use a AC/DC adapter as pictured and it's ok to use one with a higher amp output, but you can't use one with a lower amp output or it simply won't charge.

Technics SU-9070 Preamplifier: two RCA outputs, one marked DC and the other marked normal. What is the DC one for, and could I use both at the same time to power two amps? No manual or schematics.

The CD output means its Direct Current coupled, while the Normal output has a DC blocking capacitor in-series, thus limiting low frequency response.

You can can use both, but I wouldn't. (At least in a permanent setup)

Amp turns on but puts out no sound except for faint noise which dies out after a few seconds.

It sounds like a defective/incorrect AC-to-DC adapter may have caused your problem. These adapter come with different output voltages, AC or DC output and different amperage ratings. AC-to-DC adapters list the polarity of the DC voltage as it relates to the DC power plug and you must match both the devices voltage and power requirements. As for the amp...not working on batteries either, I would suspect output transistors or IC.

Power coverter to scanner failure.which unit should i buy? present one 240v 50/60hz.0.4A. output 12v.dc.i.25A

I just found my Canon 5000F scanner to have a power supply outputting 3V DC instead of 12V DC. I replaced it with a 12V DC Power Supply from Tandy rated at 1.5 amps. I had the scans getting darker by the day and sometimes completely black. Now I have great scans again. Just test the voltage at the plug that supplies the scanner for a healthy 12V DC with a multimeter.

Fuse blew and replaced, now sounds bad, what happened?

Fuse is blown because you may have bad DC to DC converter circuit (step up circuit from 12vdc to provide +-/- 30~40vdc) that supplys the power amp section. I can be that the output stage of the amp shorted out and it took out the DC to DC converter circuit.

When I hook my JL W7 sub to my alpine mrd m1005 amp the sub is pushed out and stays that way

Hello christensen7,

It sounds like there's DC current on the amp output terminals. Disconnect the sub and test the output with a multimeter. If there's DC there, most likely the amp is shorted internally and needs repair.

Hope this helps.

Amp works but DC comes out of one speaker output

To get the clamps off click HERE.

There may be several bad components. Normally, shorted outputs (the most likely cause of DC on the outputs) causes the amp to go into protect mode. In your amp, you may have shorted output transistors, open emitter resistors and possibly a problem with the protection circuit.

To get up to speed on the basics, read through the following page:

Amplifier Repair Primer

After you read through that page, remove the clamps and check all of the output transistors to determine if any are shorted.

Let me know what you find.
