It is more likely that a bushing internally warms up then seizes partially. A good cleaning and lubrication could solve this. To test the motor remove the drive belt and run the motor with no load, see if it slows down if not see idea above.

SOURCE: I need to load the bobbin for my singer 247, I have no manual

I am a veteran seamstress and I may be able to help you. it sounds as though you just have the wrong needle in the machine or the needle is in backwards.. Machine needles are different lengths according to what machine it is. The needle could also be dull on the point. Try this and see if it helps. Also your local sew shop can help you no charge if you just go in and talk with them. The techs enjoy helping for the most part I have discovered.

SOURCE: my singer touch & sew suddenly didn't stop

There might be something jamming the petal open so it won't slow or stop when you put your foot on it.. I would try that, get some canned air and blow it out and see if it helps.

SOURCE: My machins slows to a stop

We had the slow issue and it was the foot pedal. But, rather than replace the pedal I disassembled it, cleaned it, then found a little adjustable pot (resistor). I used a tiny screwdriver to adjust the pot and the speed increased. I noticed that there is a slot in the bottom of the pedal housing that is for accessing the pot without disassembling the pedal. My wife sewed a dress after the repair and so far it is working as it used to.

SOURCE: singer 3270c stops sewing in

How is your power cord? Has it been stored wound tightly? Take it in for service because it may overheat and destroy the machine. I hope that it is under warranty or that it won't cost you anything to diagnose it, but something is very wrong.

SOURCE: my singer 6038 sewing machine

I think that you need a new motor, I saw one online for $90 and it looks like it would be easy to install yourself, mostly plug in and bolt to the machine, I saw it on www.sewingpartsonline.com but there are other sites,

Where is the switch to lower feed dogs on Singer 9005. Also for a singer 247

Many Singer sewing machine manuals are available here: https://www.singer.com/support . The Singer 9005 uses a darning plate to cover the feed dogs. This was included in the original accessories and a replacement can be purchased at many sewing machine parts vendors. As far as I can tell, the feed dogs do not lower and no darning plate was included for the 247.

I hope this helps.

Bobbin case not spinning when you rotate the wheel...It was sewing good yesterday, but today the bobbin is not moving in the bobbin holder.. What caused this problem?

The 247 has 2 plastic gears in the top, one of them has probably broken. It will most likely be the smaller of the two as the large one rarely breaks. If you really like the machine and want to repair it, take it to a repair shop. Depending on your market area it should run between 100 to 150.00 dollars to repair. If it is not done correctly the machine will not ever sew well again...Good Luck!

My mom's old singer will start sewing then slows down to a stop.

It may need a REALLY thorough cleaning & oiling, Cindy, including the motor bearings. The motor's windings may be getting weak, too, or the new belt may be slipping.

Singer 247

Have you greased the gears? Are they metal or plastic? Metal gears get grease, not oil. Try a really thorough cleaning. If all else fails, take it to a sewing machine repair shop.

My sewing machine starts sewing good and then it seems to

Providing the machine has been oiled if the machine is still running slow then the chances are the motor is on the way out.

Start/stop button problem will the machine run on its own

You have to unplug the power cord to the the foot pedal. The manual doesn't include this. And good stinkin luck with Sears or Kenmore customer service! Just pull the cord out of the machine and the start/stop button will work. Try it on a slower setting at first though. Also, if you need additional presser feet, Singer, Brother, Janome, and possibly other brands will usually work as long as they are the snap on type. I really do like my machine, good luck with yours!
