Why is the Protect light - Rockford Fosgate T1500-1BDCP 1500 Watt Class-bd Constant Power Amplifier Car Audio Amp

The protect light generally comes on when the is a short in the speaker cabling. as a test, turn on the mixer without any speakers hooked up. If it still goes into protect mode the problem is in the mixer. Take it to your local music store and have their tech look at it. if it doesn't go into protect, check the speaker cables by plugging them in one at a time. The bad one will send it into protect.

How many times is the light blinking? Also is the light red, yellow or green? The light blinking is telling you exactly what has failed.
(# of RED blinks first)

1 High Pressure Protect
2 Indoor coil freeze protect
3 Low pressure protect

4 Compressor discharge protect

5 Low pressure/Overcurrent protect

6 Indoor-outdoor communication error
8 Hi-Temp protect
10 AC Voltage Low

Generally if your amplifier goes into protect, you have a bad ground.
Unhook your power wire from the battery and trace your ground wire to the chassis of the vehicle. Strip the paint from the ground location, Put the ground wire back on the grounding location. Tighten the ground wire down securely with no play and hook back up your power wire.

Other cases revolve around the RCA cables.

Unplug the RCA's and see if the protect light goes off.
Plug one in and see if the protect light comes on and then the other.
If the protect light comes on, you have bad patch cables. Replace them and see if your issue is resolved.

If the amplifier was shorted, the system board made have been damaged.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. protect light only comes on when theres a short or bad earth as long as power light on your all good you never wanna see protect light on cheers mate]

Eith some wires touched, you dont have big enough fues or you have somehting hooked up wrong

The most likely reason for it to go into protect is shorted output transistors.

Disconnect all speaker wires and signal cables from the amp. If it powers up normally (no protect light), the wiring needs to be checked. If it still goes into protect, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

In most cases when the protect light is lit, the amplifier's output transistors have failed.

If the amplifier goes into protect with no speaker wires connected to it, it's likely in need of repair.
