it is better to remove both the old RAM and fix the new RAM in the upper slot.....
you can fix one of the old ram to the other empty slot, but sometime timing conflict may arise between two Ram and the system may not function properly...anyhow if both the new and old ram are of same operating frequency you can use both....

you need to open the memory door on the bottom of the laptop. remove the old memory by releasing the latches on each side of the memory board. the memory should tilt and then you can remove it. slide the new memory in and press down until the latches catch and the memory is secured. close it up and go into the bios and save the new memory settings. restart normally.
