Top Tips to increase bittorent download Speed

The latest file sharing protocol bittorrent has modified everything when it comes to file sharing. It is a nice platform for downloading large files. Sharing of files include movies, iso images and MP3 songs. Bittorent is mainly famous for illegal file sharing .
The Bittorrent system can be slow at times due to heavy traffic. so let us tweak bittorrent sharing program a little bit.
There are a lot of different bittorrent clients that you can download. I think the best are BitCommet and uTorrent. Here is a few tips to speed up uTorrent Client. Similar can be implemented on any other torrent clients ,which you are using.

Step 1: Increase TCP connections
You need to increase the number of TCP connections that are allowed at max.Windows XP Service Pack 2 came with the number of allowed open connections to 10. This is to stop any piece of spyware(in our case bittorent client even) from totally taking over your internet connection. TCP connection allowed should be 50 for optimal performance. The best way to increase the maximum number of connections is to apply patch that is available at www.lvllord.de. A nice way to fix this is to download this patch .
The little tweak to the torrent client works great in certain times. If you’re using uTorrent go to Options menu then Preferences. In the Preferences go the Advanced Options. In the advanced options change the net.max_halfopen connections to 80. In the same section change the max half open tcp connections to 80. Once your done click on OK and you are all set. This tweak will let the maximum TCP connection available for the bittorrent client. Now start downloading you’ll realize a little difference in the download speed. Port forwarding technique is more effective than this.
A third point of interest is that some “windows updates” revert your tweaked tcp connections back to 10. So it’s wise to check this every now and then. You can check this by going to (in windows xp) Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > System… Look for event 4226 (sort by event).
If there are a lot of daily occurrences it’s likely that the max amount of half-open tcp connections was set back to 10. Or you’re infected with some nasty spy ware…

Step 2:Torrent Client Configuration
In order to apply these tips you must know your maximum up- and download speed. You can test your bandwidth over here (stop all download activity while testing).
Settings 1-4 can be found in the options, settings or preference tab of most torrent clients.
1. Maximum upload speed

Probably the most important setting there is. Your connection is (sort of) like a pipeline, if you use you maximum upload speed there’s not enough space left for the files you are downloading. So you have to cap your upload speed.
Use the following formula to determine your optimal upload speed…
80% of your maximum upload speed
so if your maximum upload speed is 40 kB/s, the optimal upload rate is 32kB/s But keep seeding!

High speed dsl down load speed is supposed to be 3.0mbps download----.384kbps upload--but all i can get is .320kbps download speed---what is the problem?

this will depend on your internet connection whether wireless ethernet or dial up

When your ISP offers you a 1Mb connection, its megaBits not MegaBytes.

So for a rough guide of how MUCH you can download, divide by eight. i.e. 1Mb speed = 128KB of data.

So its normal for you to get 1.0-1.10 mbps download speed for the 10MBps connection that you have

you might need software if you want to speed your downloads up http://download.cnet.com/getgo-download-manager/3000-2071_4-10277023.html

hope this heps

On my edimax es3116p when 1 pc is connected the other remaining pc cannot connect how to fix

Well the problem is probably due to the fact that you are trying to share a 1mb/s connect. Thats not a lot of bandwidth even for 1 computer. So when you have multiple PCs all fighting for that 1mb/s you will certainly have slow or what appears to be n connection. Now if your second PC is not getting an IP address well then you probably have an issue with DHCP.

Running 15mbps internet connection, can connect to XP client using Win 2003 SBS remote web workplace. Once connected to client, slow performance, glitchy..client has 2GB ram so it's not the computer

What is the speed of the remote computer's connection? Your 15M pipe is only as fast as the slowest segment on the total connection, and if the remote computer is on a T1, that's only 1.5M wide.
If it's on a consumer DSL connection, their upstream (downstream for you) may well be 760k or slower.

No.

A cable-modem connects with a coax-cable to the cable-company's network, but a DSL-modem connects with telephone-cable to the telephone-company's network.

D-link cant accesed internet 4pc

Most of DSL modems are connected to PC with USB cable...
n if ur server is connected with other pc on lan .. you can use internet sharing option available in winxp.

Following are the steps to enable Internetsharing for other pcs.

How to use Internet Connection Sharing loadTOCNode(2, 'summary'); To use Internet Connection Sharing to share your Internet connection, the host computer must have one network adapter that is configured to connect to the internal network, and one network adapter or modem that is configured to connect to the Internet.

On the host computer loadTOCNode(3, 'summary'); On the host computer, follow these steps to share the Internet connection:
  1. Log on to the host computer as Administrator or as Owner.
  2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Network and Internet Connections.
  4. Click Network Connections.
  5. Right-click the connection that you use to connect to the Internet. For example, if you connect to the Internet by using a modem, right-click the connection that you want under Dial-up.
  6. Click Properties.
  7. Click the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Internet Connection Sharing, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection check box.
  9. If you are sharing a dial-up Internet connection, select the Establish a dial-up connection whenever a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet check box if you want to permit your computer to automatically connect to the Internet.
  10. Click OK. You receive the following message: When Internet Connection Sharing is enabled, your LAN adapter will be set to use IP
address 192.168.0.1. Your computer may lose connectivity with other computers on
your network. If these other computers have static IP addresses, it is a good idea to set them
to obtain their IP addresses automatically. Are you sure you want to enable Internet
    Connection Sharing?
  11. Click Yes.
The connection to the Internet is shared to other computers on the local area network (LAN). The network adapter that is connected to the LAN is configured with a static IP address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

let me know if it helps.

Won't connect to AT&T DSL service

Most desktop computers do not come standard with wireless connectivity, and the 530s is no exception. To connect to the internet, you will need either an ethernet cable to run between the computer and the DSL box, or a wireless card, which can be installed inside your computer, allowing you to access wireless networks.
