You can't connect the speakers to your TV. I doesn't have any audio output available, just inputs. Those are for connecting the audio from sources like DVD players, and they go in to the TV's sound system. But there's no way of getting the sound out except through the set's internal speakers. The surround system you got is great for a computer, but it's not what you need for TV use.
The only solution I can offer is the suggestion that you invest in a home theater receiver. You can get decent basic systems with the receiver (often with DVD/audio CD playback capability built in) and surround speakers at reasonable prices. Then you use that to drive the speakers, and use the TV just as a video monitor. Then you will have surround sound.
HI, connect audio output from tv to system, you may have to turn this on or turn up in tv menu for some sharp tvs, this should get sound for tv and dvd and anything else you hook up to tv.
Dont now your sytem but check Home theatre sytem must be switch to 5.1 display and not dvd display. if stil no sound check in setup off dvd for soundsetting like PCM, RAW , 5.1etc and select each one till you get desired sound.
Presume your conections from dvd to hometheater is conected 5.1 cables or 1 digital cable and not stereo(2cables)
Please check the menu and enable 5.1 surrond option on and the dvd player dose it support surround if yes also check that u have connected the correct colour cable in correct palces..
thanks
jimmy4151: Name & model # of television & DVD player, Please. Usually if the DVD player is not an Amp, then the surround sound comes from the DVD player through the TV out through the speakers??
Hi
I have the same tv but my dvd surround is a toshiba, that shouldn't matter though. When I watch a dvd I go to component 2 which is where I have my dvd connected on the input of the tv when I watch tv and want the surround on I go to component 1 which is the tv input then on my dvd player I go to auxillary and I can watch tv in surround. I don't know the LG home theatre system but you should be able to select your inputs like between dvd, tuner, aux. Flip between them and you should get sound. hope this helps.
suggest, checking pwr point earth, power leads, try a different antenna, unplug any external connections not needed to recieve broardcast, shift position of tv by 3 mtrs. Regards Chook.
