Regulator doesn't allow gas to flow to grill . Grill cannot heat hot enough to grill steaks. Gas flows too slowly.

It is most likely the saftey check valve in the tank. The procedure is to:

• Close tank valve.
• Disconnect hose connection from grill to tank.
• Wait
• Reconnect hose connection from grill to tank
• "Slowly" open valve on tank to release gas back into grill

Through on some steaks

If still a problem replace tank.
The check valve that can cause your problem drastically reduces propane flow in case of an accident and the lines are ruptured

You will need the replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. You can pick one up at any hardware store or home center that sells grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

After you install the new one, be sure to check it for leaks, as described in the grill's Owner's Manual. Also, and this is very important. When opening the gas tank valve, open it Very, Very Slowly (slow motion, slow). If you don't, the regulator will lock up and no gas will flow to the burners.

I would try replacing the regulator, not very expensive and easy to do, first. If that doesn't fix the problem, call the gas company and see if there is a flow problem to the line itself. I have worked on grills that were operating properly, but there just wasn't enough gas flow in the line for the grill.

Gerald, when you turned the gas tank valve back On, after replacing the burner, the OPD Valve in the grill tank partially locked up the grills gas regulator. To solve this problem, follow the steps below:

1. Turn the gas valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes.

2. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow motion,
slow).

3. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the grill first and turn it to HIGH. Does
the flame height look correct for the highest setting? If so, light the remaining burners the same
way. Now, to all the flame heights look normal for the highest setting. if so, you solved the
problem.

4. Close the hood/lid of the grill and allow it to preheat for at least 15 minutes. The temperature
reading (if your grill thermometer is correct) should between 400 & 450 degrees F, depending on
outside air temperature. Which is hot enough to sear a steak.

If none of the above corrected the problem. You will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly, because the regulator is partially locked up. You can pickup one at any home center or hardware store that sell gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes.

First, check that all the gas lines and flame bars are clear of any 'things' or bugs. I had a similar problem with a Webber grill and found out my problem was with the gas bottle. The new Overflow Protection Valve required on LP bottles can closed off or severly slow the flow of gas when the bottle is full and the valve is opened quickly. It will let enough gas flow to light the grill but won't let the fire get high enough to heat the grill up. Turn all the valves off on the grill and gas bottle. Open the gas bottle valve slowly then turn on the grill burner and try lighting it. If the flame is still very low try again or you have to let it burn at the low level until the OPV float drops down and the valve doesn't impede the gas flow. The best way to avoid this in the future is to not fill the gas bottle to the top when you have it refilled. Just ask the LP attendent to not fill it all the way.

OK, it sounds to me that when you changed the propane tank, you may have turned the gas tank valve on too fast. Doing so causes the built-in excess flow valve to check, which only allows a trickle of gas through. Do this: Turn off the gas tank, disconnect it and drain any remaining gas from the grill by opening a valve to a burner. Close the grill valve and then reconnect the tank. Very slowly open the tank valve and try lighting a burner again and see it that solves the problem. Douglas

You problem could be or probably is with the regulator...not enough gas pressure...

Propane, LP, or Natural Gas Regulator Problems

The new style OPD valves have a small brass ring located in the female fitting on the LP tank. Over time this ring can work loose and then it does not allow the male fitting to fully depress the OPD valve thus reducing your gas flow
Using a small flat bladed screw driver tighten the small brass ring This should solve your problem
IF not you might want to remove the cap (white) on your regulator and try slowly adjusting the regulator, make small adjustments and try the BBQ My Weber if I set the front and back burners to MED I get right at 350 degrees in 60 degree outdoor temps. Adjusting the regulator will take some time to get it right but If it is not your tank it is most likely your regulator out of adjustment

From a tag that came with the grill -

"To ensure proper gas flow, all of the burner control valves MUST be off before opening the LP cas cylinder valve.

When turning on the LP gas cylinder valve, make sure to open the valve SLOWLY two complete turns to ensure proper gas flow.

All LP tanks now come equipped with a leak detection device internal to the tank, when gas is allowed to escape rapidly it will restrict the gas supply to the appliance. Opening the valve rapidly may simulate a gas leak, causing the safety device to activate, restricting gas flow and causing low flames or poor ignition.

Opening the valve slowly will insure this safety feature is not falsely triggered."

I would guess you triggered the tank failsafe inadvertently.
