SOURCE: Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.

SOURCE: moen T2113 shower faucet no hot water

You need to replace the stem. This will not cost you a dime; call MOEN and tell them the issue, with the model number, and they will send the replacement part. Many people don't know that MOEN is guaranteed for life (to the original owner)......another words, say you are the original owner :) They will not ask any questions. Good luck! PS Also works on any MOEN faucets you may have.

On handle of faucet you will see a red/blue plug button, under that is a set screw. loosen and this will allow you to remove handle.

Testimonial: "thanks - i saw it there but didn't see the set screw - now if i can only find the right size allen wrench -standard US doesn't fit!"

SOURCE: I have a Moen Single Handle kitchen faucet, it's

Replace the "O" rings that are behind the spout portion. You will have to remove the top of the faucet and pull up on the spout section. There will be a couple of "O" rings there. It is best to have Moen send the parts to you as locating the proper size "O" rings can be difficult.

I have a moen bathroom double faucet and the hot water side is loose, how can it be tightened?

If by double you mean separated levers, there will be a nut and gasket/washer that needs to be tightened from under sink. Can be tricky as getting to underside of that area of sink is usually a tight area, and the nuts are good size. Most hardware stores will have a faucet nut wrench which has a swivel head for on and off and is designed to reach that area vertically. You might be lucky and have plastic nuts with wings that will allow you to tighten by hand. Word of advise, that area and related hardware can play havoc on the knuckles.

We have a Moen kitchen faucet (single lever). The spigot swivels VERY hard. What can be causing this?

You will need to put some plumbers grease on the orings under the spout.
