The only trap on a Kenmore Elite HE3 is in the drain pump. The following link explains how to access and clean it out:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. I personally own one of these washers and have repaired them many times. If you are experiencing drain problems, the problem will most commonly be attributed to the drain pump trap becoming clogged with debris. There's usually an error code associated with this problem of "F02". If you attempt to clean the drain pump and you discover the pump to be clear, check the drain lines (especially the line running from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump). If all these preliminary checks don't solve the problem, the manufacturer recommends replacing the drain pump.

If this is not what you were talking about, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can understand the problem you are having. I hope this helps you.

I have a Kenmore 70 series Washing machine top load model 110 serial number 82870120 . where is the lint trap located and how to take out to clean? clothes have a lot of lint after being washed.

It is likely that a tissue or paper product was included with the wash load. The series 70 does not have a lint trap. At the hose connection to the house drain lint has been known to build up restricting the emptying. This buildup would not introduce lint into the washer.

If the water temperature is very very cold and you use powder detergent it will not dissolve completely into the water and will leave a white residue on the fabrics.

Try running a short load in the washer allowing for ample water to rinse out the machine before the next wash load.
tip

I had a lots of lint, hair, bottle cap, stones, jewelry, coins, broken Christmas...

This advice is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet model FRONT LOADING washing machines. If you experience a problem where the washer does not drain properly or the drain pump makes excessive noise, here’s the information you need to check the drain pump:

Symptom: PUMP IS RUNNING, BUT NOT DRAINING PROPERLY.

  1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
  2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
  3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
  4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
  5. Here’s a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don’t own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
  6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there’s nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
  7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
  8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT – DO NOT FORGET!).
  9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console – DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). “C00” will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
  10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
  11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
  12. If the drain pump works normal and there are no leaks detected, reinstall the bottom panel and tighten screws.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

I have a kenmore elite HE3 washer. I was getting the sud error and then eventually F02. I cleaned out all the drain lines and pump filter trap and this did not help. I've now replaced the pump

I endevor to purchase a new unit. I've had the same electrical issue with the "F" variable coming up for EACH cycle. I've pressed the Pause/Cancel button and attempted to resume the cycle. While that did work, again, the "F" would come up and the cycle disrupted. I think I will end up paying quite a bit to have it serviced. My washer is 7 years old and I've had it serviced twice to date. I intend on purchasing new in the New Year, a Samsung or LG.

Is there a lint trap or lint filter on this washer? It is a kenmore washer model# 11022622100. I seem to remember my old washer having one inside the lip of the tub but I can not find one anywhere.

On most 110 mods there was what they called a lint trap at the bottom of the wash basket. You can;t see it without taking the basket out (ya I know dum) you will need special tool to remove basket.that filter has now been replaced by whirlpool with 4 little plugs and the so called filter is removed. You can clean the old one and unit will be fine..for that job I would say to get a pro as it takes me about 2 mins to open and will save you as a home owner a whole lot of headaches..Hope I helped and Thanks for voting

Just a note that whirlpool made that machine.

Dryer is working but will beep while running and continue to run. I clean lint trap after every load and have checked it.

underneath the lint trap there is a senor, you will need to clean all the lint out inside the dryer and the vent tube:

Washing machine lint trap

There is no trap per say. The lint catcher is self cleaning when the water is pumped out. It sounds like you are overloading it and the clothes are hitting the agitator. Operation should be agitation by water movement not beat by the plastic fins, run a wash cycle hot water no clothes to flush things out and try smaller loads.

Clean drain screen on HE3 washer? I would like to clean the drain screen, but wanted to know how complicated it is getting to it and ease of cleaning it and replacing it. Thanks

if you talking about the drain trap, its very easy to clean. pop open the bottom panel by removing the three screws under it. requires a torx bit or a nut driver. if you can tilt the washer back so the front legs are a foot or 2 off the ground, it will make this a lot easier. once open you will see a twist off cap. before you remove this be prepared for the residual water to eject out when you open it. these can not get all the water out so there is always some, tilting it back will minimise this or putting hose clamps on the pump to tub hose can help but not nesesarry. twist it out and clean it out, also stick your fing into the two holes where the trap is located to see if any coins have gotten stuck. once clean, make sure you line up the trap arrow with the base. then button it back up, good luck

Lint trap

First you need to remove three screws on the front lower panel. This will expose a round "plug" to your right. This is the lint/drain trap. Place a bucket under the plug. Slowly unscrew this plug and aloow the water to drop into the bucket. Make sure your plug is clean and reset it.
