SOURCE: my remote control for my polaroid tv wont change channels.

You may be able to program your cable box remote to control your TV in addition to your cable box. When they initially set up your cable box they probably left a pamphlet giving you instructions on how to program your remote. I'm not sure why you can't change the TV channels manually but this may give you a work-around.

SOURCE: My Polaroid FLM-3232 does not display over air HDTV channels

There is no such thing as a 'digital antenna;' any antenna with sufficient gain and bandwidth will receive whatever signals there are available.
You may have to change the input source via your set's menu so it is looking at the antenna input; it may be set to cable currently.

SOURCE: When I turn on the tv the word Polaroid appears

Hi there, I don't completely agree with the previous opinion. The problem lies not in the lightst....he caps (capacitors) in the powerboard are going out. This is a very common problem in all class and price ranges of modern lcd and plasma tv's/ monitor's. I don't know if this problem has been like this for awhile or it just started, but either way, if the tv takes an abnormal amount of time to "warm" up then it most likely will go out all the way sometime in the (near) future. If you have a tiny bit of will and knowledge ypou can open the unit and get to the print board. Examine this for "popped" capacitors, they will have a buldging top instead of a flat one. Im gonna try to include a pic of them here, if i can get it this time, I've tried bfore lol. But you can google image a "popped" or "bad" capacitor and you would be able, with ease, to diagnose if you have any of these. Usually only one or two. Radioshack sells capacitors (couple anyway) for $1.59 each. MAKE SURE the replacement is of the SAME voltage or HIGHER, or you will be right back replacing those 2. Every capacitor has a negative pole marked with an (-) on the side of the capacitor(by one of the "legs", always puit the negative (-) "leg" of the new capacitor in the same hole in the printboard as where the previous negative (-) "leg" of the capacitor was ( a capacitor with the negative and positive "legs" put in backwards will result in the new piece "popping" as sson as you turn it on!!) make sure the "uf" rating (for example the most common popped capacitor is the 1000 uf) is the same as the one you are replacing. I needed 1000 uf, 105 c and 26v (volt) ratings for the 1 capacitor I needed to replace to fix my LG 19" lcd panel monitor I found by the trash that the light came on off, but it didn't come on. I replaced that capacitor with ; 1000uf, 85 c and 36 v (volts0...It works fine eventhough the volts and the temperature rating (36v and 85c) was not the same as the (26v(volt) and 105c ) capacitor I removed !! Further, I've replaced capacitors that had the celcius rating of 105 with the only ones Radioshack had, namely 85 c(celsius) they have been working great, but I'm not sure about any effect, nor have I heard or read (yet?) about that making an urgent difference. Many threads that I've read people have done the same, so we should be ok (my stuff has been running good for a while longer then most brand new ones!.............(all these ratings ; 'uf ' and 'c' etc are on the side of the capacitor you are replacing and on the side of the ones you are replacing them with)...For all this all you need is the cheapest solder gun u can find (I bought one for $7.99 at Radioshack), a camera (to take pictures as you go to remember how to reassemble the unit) and, once you have your materials, 20 minutes to replace 2 or 3 capacitors and you are good to go...Most monitors and tvs (lcd/plasma) I've seen you have to lay flat on the ground/bed/blanket etc, to work on (screen side down). Usually there are 2 or 3 screws (or a few more) to remove, then you will have to carefully (its comes off easily most times)insert a flat screwdriver inbetween the casing and gently pry it up as you go around the whole frame. Sometimes you have to remove the little washer arouind the cable input orso, just be gentle and you cant go wrong. Once insidet here will be a box with wires running to the sides etc...unplug, gently, these wires and open the box. Inside you will find 2 or 3 circuitboards, check them all for "popped" capacitors, replace, reassemble and plug it in....Have fun becoming an overnight tv mechanic lol! If this helped(or not) please rate, thank you!ecd8d91.jpg

Monitor goes black - green light stays on

My screen is black, why do I not have a picture?
Answer Antenna is not hooked up to television.
  • Make sure that the antenna cable is correctly connected to the television. If it doesn't work there appears to be no signal.
Problem is caused by television broadcast
  1. Push 'INFO' button.
  2. If the screen shows channel number (1, 2, 3, etc) try another channel. Not all channels broadcast at all times.
  3. You may have a signal problem. Contact cable provider or local broadcaster regarding the specific channel.
Television is in EXT or SIDE mode, and there is no external source provided, so screen mute (black screen) is activated.
  1. Push NEXT SOURCE button on the remote.
  2. On the screen appears all sorces.
  3. Press the UP button to switch to the TV mode.
If you are using an accessory device (DVD, DVR, or VCR), be sure the device is on and running.
Blank screen when connecting to the accessory (DVD, STB, PC) device via HDMI to HDMI.

Answer
  • Make sure the cable is well connected .
  • To check which connection is selected, Press the i+ button on the remote control.
  1. When you see Blue mute / blank screen and the i+ display does not indicate any video resolution indication then there is no valid signal detected.
    • Make sure the HDMI output of the accessory is valid by changing the video output resolution to a resolution which the TV can handle.
  2. When you see a blank screen and the i+ display shows a video resolution indication then the connection is correct.
    • The blank screen is caused by the accessory device and not by the TV.
    • To detect and remedy the problem caused by the accessory device, check the instruction manual of this device.
  3. If the problem remains : reselect the HDMI external source input by changing to the other HDMI input and back to the connected HDMI :
    1. Press AV on the remote
    2. Press up and then ok
    3. Press AV again
    4. Press down and ok
    5. The compatibility check process between TV and accessory device will start over again.
  4. Reset (switch off and back on) the TV and also reset the accessory device.

My Plasma TV is having problems on Channel 31 (not sure of the frequency assigned)

Do you have an old VCR? because they used to work around this channel. If not forget what I said. If so, try changing the output, or if you don't use it, put it somewhere else.

Issue with Samsung LE32B450. After the TV has been on for about 5 minutes, when you change channel the screen goes blank and the sound goes off. However, the TV is still on as pressing the power but

Just do a hard reset to this set and check. Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 10 minutes or so. This must make it a hard reset.

We have a similar problem when changing channels/surfing, the TV will begin to power cycle, until you unplug THE CABLE TV input, then it will turn on again and stay on as you rehook the cable and change channels....till it decides to do it again, DTV channels seem to trip it up, but not sure....if I leave it on the same channel it will run for days. Yep and the cable TV is grounded outside

Channel keeps changing

It sounds like a stuck button or switch. What happens when you hit the channel DOWN, does it still keep scrolling down?
Is this with or without the remote?
Have you tried it with the remote and or the TV?

Let me know whether you are changing the channels with the remote or the buttons on the tv and I can try to give you a couple more suggestions.

Sound stays on & picture goes to blank screen

I do not see any reference on this problem and I even checked with Sony. If you are on a cable box, I suspect that is the problem.
