TO DEVELOP FULL POWER, THE AMPLIFIER REQUIRES EITHER 2 OHMS PER CHANNEL WHEN UNBRIDGED OR YOU CAN BRIDGE IT, BUT THE TOTAL LOAD MUST NOT BE BELOW 4 OHMS TOTAL. NOW I CAN TELL YOU THAT THESE ARE SOME VERY FORGIVING AMPS WHEN BROUGHT BELOW 4 OHMS BUT IT REQUIRES MUCH RESPONSIBILITY IN KNOWING THE LIMITS. SOMETIMES WHEN CONNECTING 3, 8-OHM DRIVERS IN PARALLEL FOR A TOTAL OF 2.66 OHMS, THEY WILL RUN ALL DAY, BUT IT IS MORE OF A CHANCE TO TAKE WHEN GOING TO 2 OR EVER WORSE, 1 OHM. EVEN IF IT SURVIVES, IT WILL OVERHEAT QUICKLY. FOR LONGEVITY, I WOULD STAY AT 4 OHMS BRIDGED. YOU WILL GET THE OUTPUT THAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE AND IT WILL LAST FOREVER. OK. HOPE THIS HELPS......V

Yes, if you add a 1 ohm resistor to the negative terminal of speaker.

that amp should work fine with those speakers, just make sure that they(speakers)are wired for 2 ohms.at 500-600watts coming from amp, you should be getting 250-300 watts per speaker, just dont crank your gain too high on the amp.

SOURCE: Rockford Fosgate 800a2 To 2 SVC 2ohm subs

Ok.. Bridge the two sub into 4ohm than bridge to amp.

So. this how it goes.

sub1 + -
to      | |
sub2 - +
=      4ohm

           From Sub
                Two
            -          +
            |           |
amp (L) - + (R)- +

This will use the full potiental of RF 800a2 amp. I believe it like 1153 watts max out.

SOURCE: 2 12 p3d212 2 ohm hooking up to a rockford

Hello a_brake11,

The P325.1 is relatively small to power a pair of P3's. You'll only get 325 watts RMS at 2 ohms (162.5 watts per sub). The P3's power range is from 100-500 watts, so they will work, but don't expect them to be really loud.

For best power, your subs should be wired with the voice coils in series and then the 2 subs paralleled to the amp resulting in a 2 ohm load.

Hope this helps.

Can I wire two p3 12 Rockford fosgate subs to a kicker 250.1 amp

It has two speaker terminals which allows you to wire muliple subs to the amp easier than trying to cram the wires all into one set of terminals. The two sets of terminals are wire in parallel internally on the amp, so it matters no which + or - you use on it. However, you need to remember they are already wired in parallel internally, so if you were to wire up two 2 ohm subs, the amp would see a 1 ohm load (which it's not stable at), not a 2 ohm.

What kind of amp can adequately power P112 S8 subs

you shouldnt run it at 8 ohm it shows what ohms it can handle . to run it at 1 ohm you would need 2 subs to do this. and no i wouldnt run an 8 ohm sub on the amp.

Need to know how many ohms this amp is

Safe down to 2 ohms, NOT a 1 ohm stable amp, it will be pushing it hard even at 2ohms but Fosgate's should be able to handle it providing that the install and all cables, wire, connections, etc. are sanitary!
Good Luck !

I get a better sound with my 250.2 than with my 500a2

Rockford Fosgate was bought out over 10 years ago. the amps you have are from that era. Its probable that the 250.2 was made before the change over, and is just a better quality amp. the a series amplifiers were some of the first produced by the "new" Rockford Fosgate, and they sucked, along with most of their products since.

Sub Wiring

Hello jtkpay,

Rockford-Fosgate claims their latest V-power 1500bd is stable to 1 ohm, and I would think that your Oldschool would also be. The 2 wiring options for 3 subs with 2 ohm dvc would give you a 1.34 ohm load and a 3 ohm load. The 1.34 ohm option would mean more watts to the subs, but the amp will run hotter. The diagrams look like this:

c9227fe.gif
Using just 2 of the Kickers, you can wire 3 different ways, with final impedances of 0.5 ohms, 2 ohms, or 8 ohms. You do not want the 0.5 ohm load. It's bad for the amp. You don't want the 8 ohm load. It doesn't allow the amp to produce as much power. So that leaves only the 2 ohm, with coils in series and subs in parallel. It looks like this:

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate as "FixYa".

Sub hook ups

There's a lot more factors involved than that.
  • Power capability of the subs
  • Type/size of the sub box
  • Allotted space in the vehicle for the sub box
  • Voice coil impedance of the subs versus the capability of the amp
  • Etc.

Where to take my amp for repair

Contact Rockford for factory service.

If you don't want to send it to Rockford, ask the local audio shops who they use for amp repairs. If several use the same repair shop, it's probably a good place to send your amp.

Sub woofer wiring

If you have a 500a2 and two 4 ohm single voice coil speakers, you have only one option. Connect one speaker to each channel.
