Hitachi DS18DL drill quits under load

After a few seconds under the load of inserting a screw the motor quits. Nothing happens if the trigger is pressed. After a few more seconds the drill will start again but will quit again. This goes on and on until the screw is seated.

Automatic circuit breaker is protecting the tool or the battery. If it happens on both batteries then the tool should be returned under 10 year warranty. If on one battery then that battery is bad - 2 year warranty on Lithium battery.

Just quit working one day, drill is just over a year old not used a whole lot, pull trigger and nothing happens

Are the batteries fresh? How about the switch? Is it in the right position? I can't believe the motor has died. Even a dead battery will spin it a little. Check that out and let me know what you find.

Trying to remove a jacobs key less chuck 500 series fitted to a DS18DL Hitachi drill

It twists off counter clock wise. The best way I have found to remove the chuck is to stick a screw driver into the chuck, tighten the chuck, hold the screw driver in some type of vise and run it all full speed in reverse

I have a three year old hitachi dv18dl cordless hammerdrill. The low gear is stripped and the trigger is intermittant. I tried taking it apart but saw nothing obvious. Any ideas on what to do or where to...

Here is the diagram for the drill. I would replace the gearbox and dc control switch. But it may be cheaper to buy a new drill.

18v dewalt battery gives off burning smell

18v is one of the newer models, correct? And the drill is new? If so there will be some smell as the motor breaks in. The srmsture is varnished as well as the windind for the commutator. The first few times it get s warm/warm from a heavy load, You will smell it. I would say there is nothing wrong at this point.Do not overload the motor and avoid drilling at low speeds. Use the variable trigger at low speed only for starting a hole. If you are driving screws start the screw, then full trigger driving it in. Good Luck, Ned

I have removed the screw from the inside of chuck but cannot seem to remove the chuck please help as the girls in the office are taking the **** Thanks

The chuck is probably attached to the shaft with a left hand thread. Engage the spindle lock and turn the chuck clockwise to unscrew it.
