It should be at least for talking on phone.

I had the same problem, in fact I was not using the unit.
This morning I decided to take another look at it; to be honest a very clever co-worker took a stab at it.
It turns out that it is a very simple fix, once you figure it out.
Just be sure that the microphone points towards the front, towards you; just as they tell you on the instructions.
Obviously mine was reversed, once we turned it to the correct orientation, the problem went away. LES

I wasn't able to locate any documentation on a factory reset, but if it is like all of their headsets, press and hold both volume buttons and the call button at the same time - hold it for 10 seconds and it should reset - IF it works the same. If it does, the default passcode is 0000

These two devices ARE compatible. Sometimes you might be required to enter a passkey once your phone has paired with the T305 (in which case the initial value is set to '0000'). If this doesn't work try the Motorola website below:
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Consumer-Support/Mobile-Phones/KRZR_K1_Default_Support_Loc%253AUS-EN#
And click on 'Car Accessories' under 'Connect my Bluetooth'
Hope this helps!
