Evf lcd not working - FUJIFILM FinePix S2950 / S2990 Digital Camera

It could be that you have it set for EVF which means that you are using the tiny view finder instead of the LCD screen? It should have a button close to the view finder labeled EVF/LCD, you can alternate between the LCD screen or the tiny viewfinder? This function if mainly to conserve battery power or if you are out in the sun and cannot frame a shot and so you use the view finder like the old cameras, hope this might help you?

Hello, I think I know what the problem is..we'll see. On the back of the s5600 there is a button marked EVF and LCD(EVF on top LCD underneath) try clicking this button to see if your LCD screen becomes available, only one of these can be used at a time and the default for playback is the LCD screen. However if you have set it to EVF it will revert back to this format when you leave playback and try take new footage. I hope this helps and it is nothing more complicated. Try the focus dial on the left side of the evf .

Does the electronic view finder (EVF) work? Of course you tried toggling the EVF off so the screen would come on right???

Does the EVF work? The small view finder above the LCD screen. You can switch to it using the EVF/LCD button on the right side above the main display. If it is okay then you'll likely need a replacement LCD.

You should go into the menu, camera settings and set the evf to on. EVF stands for electronic view finder. This can be set to be on when the lcd is open or closed. CAreful, if the evf is set to on and you point the viewfinder towards the sun, it will burn white marks into the viewfinder and ruin it.

if you have tryed switching over between lcd and evf and nothing comes up on the lcd then you might have a flex, lcd or main pcb fault.

From your description, it sounds like what I've seen described by other people when something has come loose inside-- maybe a cable. If you do a search, I know there are posts where [crazy] people have pried open the guts of their cameras and have written out a step-by-step tutorial on what's in there. If you didn't feel comfy going that route, you might be able to send it to Sony for repair. My vote, if the camera works okay otherwise, would be to just live with it.
