Nothing to do with any chips being faulty.
The clue is in the video....
The video function does not use the shutter.
The shutter has become fouled.
Unfortunately this is a major strip down to clean the shutter

SOURCE: can't download pictures from camera

perhaps your Fuji download program is corrupted, or your cable has been broken. Most computers now have a direct plug-in for your memory card, as well as plenty of built-in programs to download your pictures. I like the Vista Photo Gallery (come to think of it, it is the ONLY thing I like about Vista. At any rate, unplug your xD chip from the battery compartment (you can just pull it out, or push it and it pops up), (and close the battery compartment, or you will have to reset the date and time), plug it into your computer, and wait for a bunch of programs to pop up eager to download your photos. If that doesn't work, you may have a bad chip--but if you had a bad chip, you couldn't view your pictures on your camera. If you have XP, you should be able to see the xD as a new drive if you plug it in--not sure which programs will pop up, but you may be able to move the pix just like any files from one drive to another. Good luck. Incidentally, if you need a new cable, internet charges range from 3 to $25.

SOURCE: Downloading pictures to computer

Did you disable the autorun on your computer? Is operating system detecting the cam/card as removable disk? Which program is downloading the pictures? (Check the program options)

SOURCE: Finepix J20 Digital Camera- says:PROTECTED CARD!

My bet is that the little switch on the SD card is in the "lock" position. Switch it off and try again...

Testimonial: "Hi I left the comment about the Fine Pix Fuji J20 camera, and I am not sure where the sd switch is on the camera. please if you can let me know. Thanks"

Cannot get memory card into camera

F460 uses Xd picture card format. Obsruction to the "Insert/eject" mechanism is probable cause. Card inserted incorrectly? Removed incorrectly? Replace card slot. Probably not cost effective though.

Hi, will a SDHC card fit & work in my Fuji FinePix F460? Thanks, Ray

Hi,

According to the camera specifications the only flash storage supported is:
  • XD-Picture Card
  • xD-Picture Card Type H
  • xD-Picture Card Type M.
Hope this helps!!

My photos look like they have been taken through venetian blinds

I had posted a solution to "lines on photo's or over exposed photo's" on my tips page covering most digital cameras but just recently I noticed my whole page has been removed and I am waiting to hear why.

Basically, lines on photo's or over exposed pictures in daylight are due to the shutter not closing over the lens completely.

It is a mechanical fault due to dirt/ grease or moisture on the shutter leafs sticking them together.

White lines.

It's your ccd that has the lines on it. It's the chip inside your camera that converts the picture to digital data. You should take it into a camera shop and see what your options are.

F460

Lines across your pictures could indicate that the sensor is damaged. If your camera is still under warranty get it back to Fuji asap, otherwise get it to a repair service and ask for a quote to repair. As far as i know fuji have a fixed price to repair each camera model.

Help... white lines

I also have the same problem! I absolutely love this camera but suddenly out of the blue I have stripy lines on the screen that look like you are looking through a venetian blind. I have contacted Fuji but they say it will cost £99 to repair or have offered £50 discount on any other camera. I just want my F460 working ok. Please, please can anyone help us?
