although I would still like you to let me know the service tag ( so I can check on your warranty ), I am going to take a stab at what I think you are having a problem with.
I have had several customers that have had difficulty with their Dell printers when in fact there was no hardware defect at all, but simply that the options were not set in their Driver.
One customer couldnt print from tray 2 because tray 2 was not "installed" in the driver.
See the image below. If you go to control panel and then printers and faxes, right click on your printer and then select properties. ( see image )
the last tab ( and i know it isn't easy to see here ) is marked as options.
Click there, and then make sure that the duplexer is either "available" as shown in the above driver properties window, or on some Dell printers, it actually shows a list on the left and the available options on the right. If this is the case for you, simply highlight the duplexer and "add" to move it to the columb on the right.
You would think that just installing the print driver would also insure the printer was added as configured, but sometimes it does not.
