SOURCE: The following printhead(s) has a problem Black/Yellow[K/Y].

Simple solution is:

Replace the Black and Yellow Print Catridges. The print heads are mounted to the bottom of the catridges and these, depending on whther they're from HP or not. can have a hard time conducting electricity properly, and in turn.. spitting ink out properly.

Also happens often with aftermarket Catridges because HP puts chips on the catridge. be sure to put an HP catridge. Sometimes you get what you pay for :)

SOURCE: HP Officejet Pro L7650 Print head problem

The reason why the printer refuses to print if you get low on one or more colors is that the system runs off negative pressure through the ink lines to the print head. If you were able to continue printing with an empty cartridge you could get air in the respective ink line, disrupt the negative pressure, make it so that that color will no longer print, and require you to get the printer serviced to fix the problem. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling store and I feel this is a good machine (compared to some of the others out there). The only down side with this type of machine is the print heads expiring or getting clogged as you are experiencing. The reason the black is clogged and not the other colors is that the black ink is pigment based and the colors are dye based. The pigment based inks do tend to clog print heads over time. You can try to rehydrate the print head with warm distilled water. if you can't get it working to your satisfaction you can buy a new black/yellow print head for $72. With this type of printer you should print at least one black and white and one color document per week to keep the print heads fresh. If they sit too long without ink flowing through them then they can get clogged and print poorly. I hope this helps belay some of the resentment you hold towards your printer.

SOURCE: Printhead Problem:

Have you tried to replace the black/yellow printhead? This is not the same as the ink cartridges, but it is located in the compartment under and to the right of the scanner lid.
Here is HP's link.

Hp officejet pro 8500 cleans printhead everytime i turn it on. and it uses ink! how cani deactivate it? how can i set to cleaning it manually?

That is quite normal . All inkjets run a cleaning cycle when turned on to make sure there is a good flow through the printhead and to prevent the head from becoming blocked. You cannot turn it off.

HP Officejet Pro K550 - Printhead Error Message on new printhead - cleaned printhead, contacts... tried all fixes... what now? Is it faulty?

I have the same problem. I replaced both printhead cartidges. The MC light stopped blinking, but the KY light kept blinking. I thought it was a faulty new KY ink cartridge. So I returned that cartridge and got a new one. Still the same issue. I called hp and they said the print head is bad now and all they focused on was trying to sell me a new printer. UG! I also heard wiping off the printhead with a dry cloth may help. Did you get yours to wokr?

How do i clean the printheads on a hp officejet

hp printers have a utility program that cleans and purges the printer heads. Go to HP on your startup menu and look through the options....mine is located in the "hp solutions center".

It has an option for purging the printer heads.

My HP officejet Pro L7580 says the printhead has a problem

Re-insert the print cartridges. It is also possible that the heads are burnt. Get a new set of print heads (black/yellow) and install to the printer. If problem persists, clean the contacts on the printers. Use acetone + cotton swabs.
