What is high low setting on carb - Husqvarna Craftsman 36cc, 16 In. Gas Chain Saw

Carb is factory set which isn't my idea of a durable system. You can clean the carb thoroughly, blow out all ports with high pressure air and replace any gaskets and diaphragms. Then cross your fingers. The only other solution is replacing carb.

Hi..in general i always set the high and low screws at 2 turns out from a complete stop..and please dont tighten the screws too tight..it will bend the needles...I think it will..or should run at them settings...as far as the gas out of the engine..it is or has a problem with the carb...did you remove the carb...? Also try starting it with only starting fluid for a very short time..this is how I check to see if all else is ok..spray it in the carb in take...

CKP - Crank Position Sensor. The CKP generates an "AC signal" which is sent to the ECM where it is used to reference engine position (TDC) and speed.
DTC - Diagnostic Trouble Codes
ECM - Electronic Control Module. (The Computer) Computes the spark advance for proper ignition timing and fuel control based on sensor inputs
(from CKP, MAP & TP sensors) and controls the low-voltage circuits for the ignition coils and injectors.
The dwell time for the ignition coil is also calculated in the microprocessor and is dependent upon battery voltage. The programmed dwell feature gives adequate spark at all speeds.
ECT - Engine Coolant Temperature. Sensor also controls the cooling fan relay that provides 12 Vdc to the fans.
EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection
EFP - Electronic Fuel Pump
ET - Engine Temperature sensor
FI - Fuel Injectors
FPR - Fuel Pressure regulator
IAC - Idle Air Control actuator
IAT - Intake Air Temperature sensor
ISS - Ion Sensing System...detonation detection
MAP - manifold Absolute Pressure sensor. The MAP sensor monitors the intake manifold pressure (vacuum) and sends the information to the ECM.
The EMC then adjusts the spark and fuel-timing advance curves for optimum performance.
TP - Throttle Position Sensor
TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
VE - Volume Efficiency
VSS - Vehicle Speed Sensor. Used as an input for idle speed control

Pull any speedometer error codes:

1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.
2- Push odometer reset button in & hold.
3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.
5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Ignition Control Module [Carbureted)
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer
6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.
7 - Record the codes.
8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear.
9 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.
10 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.
On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the tachometer identifier is selected.
"No Rsp" will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.

Hi, most chainsaws start with carb settings at 1&1/4 turns out( hi+lo) usually once the chainsaw has been run in, the 'hi' screw can be turned in an eighth, tickover set low enough not to cut out but high enough not to engage the clutch, cheers Billy

you those to adjust the carb hi is balls out running , sometimes it sounds sick or spudders when cutting the hi will clean that up small turns only . low is for idle. ok

ther is no set setting but to get it to run so it can be adjusted. lightly close the high off then open the low about two turns. try to start if starts slowly adust the low screw till it runs normal with the choke all the way off. then start to add throttle while turning the high out till regiured rpms ar reached with no misses. this takes awhile even fo a seasoned mech and may require several attempts

With all the new EPA guidlines on emissions there are many new type of carbs.The older type was easy, If its a walbro or zama brand and it has 2 adjustment screws as well as an Idle speed, preset the low and high at 1.25 turns out from set, start the saw, run it to full throttle,adjust the high speed needle counter clockwise untill you hear the engine start to flutter. You want to year the flutter about once every 4 seconds.then let it idle,adjust the low speen till it runs smooth then make it 1/8 turn richer. Many of the new carbs require special tools to adjust, not brain surgery, just to keep the air cleaner..

The standard setting on needles is to screw them in all the way and then back them out 1 and a half turns.

You need to set the mixtures for the carburetor. You will find a Low and High adjustment screw. turn the low adjustment screw out. You will notice that the rpms should start increasing. keep turning it out until the rpms start to drop then turn it back in a quarter of a turn. You may need to readjust the idle speed so the chain doesn't turn during idle. Do the same for the high adjustment screw.

yes, you need to tune the carbs, by adjusting the low and high speed jets. there should be to slotted screws on the carbs, this is an older m/c, that is the set up. start bike and try tuning them. the carbs may need cleaning if you cant adjust
