50" vizio working fine-then picture and sound went out with no warning-only thing i can get on screen is the menus setting. how can i tell if the t.v is just shot

If you still can pull up the menu which means the panel still works. Check your connections and make sure that you're on an input with something connect to it. Best way to test is hook up a DVD player to an AV or component input and select that input when you turn your TV on. If you still have problem, let me know what is the model and serial number of the unit.
