Fuji FinePix z10fd does not come up as removable disk on PC

I cannot make my Fuji FinePix camera come up as a removable disk on my PC, I erased some pics from my SD card and need to recover them but the camera only shows up as a camera and I need it set as mass media, any ideas?

The camera cannot be used as a card reader. You'll need an actual card reader to write to the card. Yes, it's confusing. You can read the card without a card reader, but you need a card reader to write to the card.

SOURCE: my fuji finepix z10fd won't turn on. I bought a

When ever any kind of unit, camera or other wise will not turn on, then there are all kinds of problems which could cause this. It could be in the battery circuit with something wrong or disconnected. It could be in the switch to turn on the unit. There also could be a number of other things which could be at fault all of which could cause the camera not to turn on.
If there is some thing which happened in the past such as an impact, water getting inside the camera, or from being dropped, all of which could cause trouble.
My suggestion is to sell it on a site such as Ebay as parts, or have it looked at (if it is worth it) by a repairman.

SOURCE: Replacing LDC screen on Fuji Z10FD camera

Probably, yes.
Remove the 2 screws on the side,
Remove the 3 screws in the buttom. (2 of which are tri-wing)
Remove the 2 screws in the battery compartment.
Flip out the chrome side (from the front backwards)
Remove the 2 screws underneath the chrome side.
Turn the camera upside down. You can now flip the backcover down (gently lift the cover, both on the mid by the tripd hole and on the side, where the crome plate was) Watch out for the USB connector.
Gently lift the broken LCD out. You need to release (flip up) the tiny white lock on the connector to release the ribbon.
Assembly same procedure, but backwards.
Beware of the flash components. The can give a nasty electrical chock.

Yes, formatting will erase your pictures. If I'm not mistaen, this camera uses a standard USB Mini port, you can purchase one at any computer or electronics store.

I was taking pics then closed camera then reopened and it say card not initialized

The card may have an error on it. Try reformatting it from the camera setup menu. This will erase ALL pictures on the card.

Lost my software CD of my Fuji Finepix Z10fd, how ...

You don't need any software.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said first, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

My picyures wont load up,the camera is properly connected 2 da lapyop and its installed correctly but the computer does not show it

If your PC doesn't show it then you unplug it and plug it again. If it's recognized by your PC then it should appear in the "My Computer" hard disk drives.

Battery problems

I've removed several using a pair of "duck-billed" needle-nose pliers. They're quite common and will allow you to grab the battery without damaging it or the camera body.
