If you live in an area with hard water, the white powder is probably hard water residue / deposits. Most detergent does not clean hard water deposits anymore because there are new laws that required a change in the ingredients of dishwasher detergent. Here's a product that was created to solve this exact problem. Add about 2 tablespoons to your normal detergent. It's all-natural & made from dehydrated orange peels! They will send a free sample if you ask for one. www.CloudyDishes.com

I just got a Samsung 4.5 cu. Ft hi-efficiency front load washer with self clean+in white . The book that came with It doesn't have pictures or much instructions.

This could be a Samsung WF45T6000AW washer. On this model (and most similar recent Samsung front-load washers), the dispenser drawer is to the left of the cycle selector dial. When you pull out the drawer, the compartment arrangement is: front left - liquid detergent, front right - liquid fabric softener. Liquid bleach goes into the back compartment. If you are using a powdered detergent, you have to remove the liquid detergent container. It just lifts out. Then put the powdered detergent in the front left- compartment.

I found the Use and Care manual on the product page, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Samsung-4-5-cu-ft-High-Efficiency-Front-Load-Washer-with-Self-Clean-in-White-WF45T6000AW/313846213 , at HomeDepot.com. The current link to this manual is https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfimages/1d/1d90b4de-ebaa-4d5f-a0cf-494bb1ffd212.pdf . The use of the detergent drawer is covered on pages 28-30. The description of the washer control panel starts on page 31. The cycle overview starts at page 35.

I hope this helps.

I forgot silicone rack covers during a self clean cycle. I now have white powder all over the oven. The powder repels water. Once it is cleaned up is it safe to use the oven?

Food grade silicone (what is used to make the rack guards) pyrolizes at the much higher oven cleaning temperatures. The white powder is what is left from that process....which a number of people (who have done the same thing) indicate is not easy to remove so good luck.
But your exposure to anything was probably worst during the pyrolysis as compared to what was left (white powder). If you are successful in removing it ... I would run the oven again in self clean mode ... check to make sure no other residue shows up ... and then use the oven as normal

I have a Bosch dishwasher. I am getting a very large build up of crust on all the parts to the point that it clogs up and won't drain. This white build up is so thick at places it is past like. Help!

Dishwashers do not drain a such. The water has to be pumped out so it important that you don't do anything that will interfere with the efficient operation of the pump.

1. You need to pull every movable item out of the washer (baskets and the water filter units at the bottom of the washer) and give them a good clean. Then clean as much of the white gunk you can out of the machine. This is a build up of soap residue and may include undissolved soap.

2. Then run the machine while empty through 2 complete wash cycles with maximum hot water temperature to clean what remains out of it. Do NOT use any dishwasher powder while you are doing this.

3. The problem you have can be due to
- poor quality dishwasher soap powder being used or soap products completely unsuitable for dishwashers are being used
- too much soap powder product is being used
- the water temperature in the machine is far too low. In that event the water heater unit in the machine may be faulty.

Whatever dishwasher powder you are using I would change and buy a better one and also use less than what you have been using in each wash up to now. I would also STOP the machine in the middle of the wash cycle, then open the door and check the water temperature. It should be so hot a wall of steam should rush out when you open the door.

MY LG WASHING MACHINE KEEPS FLASHING AE AND AN ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF

Have you tried cleaning your washer? I had a similar problem before and it is mostly caused by my brand of powder detergent. Detergent residues somehow confuses the functions of the system. I switched to an HE liquid detergent.

You can try cleaning your washer. Run an empty hot water cycle and add one cup of distilled white vinegar. It will help dissolve detergent residues as well as molds and mildew.

The whashing comes out with white powder like stuff. Can I clean the drum and if so how ? is it flint that gathers some where?

Hello Sir Tommis,

I understand that you are having a problem with your washing machine. When you wash clothes they come out with a white powder like substance on them. This white powder substance is the powder laundry soap that you are using.

This is generally caused by adding to much soap and clothes to the washing machine. The soap is not getting dissolved and the clothes do not have enough room to agitate in the machine. Try to put 3/4 of the amount of clothes in the washer with the same amount of soap and see if the clothes come out with the same powder like substance on them.

The clothes that currently have the soap on them will have to be hand washed with a scrub brush in oder to get the material off of them as running them though the washer will not remove the soaked in soap.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Washer not cleaning clothes

The filter on your pump is probably clogged with lint and stuff. You have to remove the bottom front panel, 3 torx screws underneath. The panel will drop and come off. Drain off the excess water from the drain pipe you see. The white filter cover is right in front. Get yourself a good plastic bag to collect water. Unscrew the filter cover and twist the filter out. Clean out all the stuff and put it back in carefully.
On some models the filter is located ‘inside’ the big hose from the bottom of the tub. This takes more time to clean.

Next run your washer with 2 cups of bleach, hot water. After it starts agitating stop the washer & let it remain for 2 hours. Then continue the wash.
Try using powders for 'front loaders'
