Tape won't play, FF, or eject.

I inserted a tape that would not play or FF or rewind.
I ejected it just fine.
I tried a 2nd tape tape and mechanism worked fine (played, FF, REWIND).
I inserted the first tape again, and the tape player won't do anything.
It will not eject, or move the tape at all.
I have powered off, and back on.
I have unplugged the unit and plugged it back in.
I get no mechanical movement.
Is there not a trip button to assist a stuck tape?

The door opens, I can see the tape. It is held firmly in place.

I should be able to open the unit and check out the flywheel.

I found a CLEAR button on the back of the unit.
It appears to do something but, does not correct the problem. The Hi8 button changes mode. The power does cycle on and off. I checked the suggested cure to manually spin the flywheel.
That didn't work. It freely spins and doesn't do anything to the tape.
I have looked a little on line for a Service manual, but, am not ready to pay for a manual. There must be some way to manually rewind the tape to disengage it from the wheels and pull-out arms.

    Anyone have any more suggestions.

Sorry to say that none.no trip button for that.i assumed that the magnetic strip of the tape is already wind up inside.you'll need to open the unit up and gently rotate the flywheel of the tape player until you can open the door of the tape compartment.no need to force or it will just break.

Panasonic PV-L559 Camera is stuck rewinding the tape

It sounds like your camera is experiencing a mechanical issue with the tape mechanism. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the problem:
  1. Power off the camera: Turn off the camera and remove any power sources, such as the battery or AC adapter. This will ensure the camera is completely powered down.
  2. Eject the tape: Look for a manual eject button or lever on the camera. It's usually located near the tape compartment or on the side of the camera. Press or slide the eject mechanism to try and release the stuck tape. Be gentle and avoid using excessive force.
  3. Gently assist the tape: If the tape doesn't eject smoothly, you can try gently assisting it using a small, non-metallic object like a toothpick or a plastic tool. Carefully insert the object into the tape compartment and try to guide the tape back into the cassette while the eject mechanism is activated. Again, be gentle to avoid damaging the tape or the camera.
  4. Reset the camera: After removing the tape or resolving any potential jam, reinsert the power source (battery or AC adapter) and turn on the camera. This can sometimes reset the internal mechanisms and restore normal functionality.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact the manufacturer's support or a professional camera repair service for further assistance. They have the expertise to diagnose and repair mechanical problems with the camera's tape mechanism. Make sure to provide them with all the relevant details about the issue and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot it.

VHS tape is running at high speed when insert it to VCR. no playback..buttons doesnot work.

Check if the fast forward button is more inside than the rest of the buttons. May be its stuck in the ff position. After all they were just micro switches below the plastic buttons strip. The specific ff micro switch may be stuck, if I were you I would try some switch cleaning spray to loosen it. But be prepared that the control ic is busted.

Err on display when insert tape, no functions work.

Two things. First there is some damage to the tape transport mechanism. Only a good look around will confirm this. Secondly a faulty mode switch.

Close when play vcr

Problem in the mechanism that moves the tape in play,ff,rewind and also winds tape back into cassette and ejects it.

Likely a bad or worn belt or drive idler(rubber).

My VHS tape is stuck and won't eject or plsy

The transport mechanism ff/rewinds and drives the tape back into the cassette when eject is used.

Most likely a bad belt or the drive idler wheel (rubber or geared). Unit would have to be taken apart to "see" what is not happening.

I've a Mitsubishi HS-U770 that has not been used for several years. When I tried to use it today, the tape loaded but would not play, rewind, or fast forward (I hear what sounds like gears slipping). The...

Mine did that, and when I opened it I found that a small drive belt (visible from the bottom with the cover removed) had deteriorated into goo. This unit had been in storage a while and the rubber just deteriorated, I guess. The trouble is that now I cant tell what size it is, or what length. I think this belt drives the mechanism that loads the tape in and out, and the rest of the mechanism is triggered by the tape cassette moving into position. Since it cant get loaded properly, the rest of the machine doesnt work right, either.

Unit accepted cassette, won't eject

It is likely that either the drive belt has broken or is slipping. Because the unit is still in "play" mode, the mechanism won't let the door open up. If you have not opened up these units before, do not attempt it now. This unit should be taken to an experienced tech for repair. Where are you located?

Vcr eating and/or ejects tape

Tape heads should be cleaned first and gears lubricated. This job can be done at home if you purchase lithium grease and are very careful not to get it on the heads or spools. Greasing should only be done if you are confident in opening it up. Otherwise, seek a cheap professional.
