The HDD must order from Sony It can not replace with the computer HDD.
hi cct668, I have heard this is not the case? that you can change the hdd with a new one without going through a computer hdd. i would like to know for sure,thanks for your assistance and input. jim

I've had the same problem. I've actually unplugged the unit and it's been unplugged for probably about two weeks. When I reconnected the power this morning the problem persisted where the DVD Recorder was stuck on the Welcome Screen. As a last ditch effort I pressed and held the power button for 10 to 15 seconds until the word "Welcome" dissapeard of the screen and back on. This seems to have reset the unit. I know I should have tried this a long time ago. So much for reading the instruction manual! I'm just glad it's working again!
