there is a rod that runs from the handle to the door latch mechanism. there is a nylon clip that holds them in position. if either is broken the rod pops out and the door handle wont work. the door panel must be removed to check and repair
If it doesn't work from the outside, but works from the inside, then remove the inner door panel and inspect the inside of the handle mechanism. The handle has likely snapped on the inside, or it's connecting rod is no longer connected.
first check the air pressure in the tires make sure they are the same then move the linkage rods on the slower side to balance the speeds out if it doesn't balance out you might have a pump or drive motor failing each side has its own pump and drive motor assuming you already check the fluid level
{: ) Yes there is a rod. Check if it could have fallen somewhere inside the door. I have for you a diagram, although this is for the driver door, the configuration is much similar. The rear door uses a shorter rod and doesn't have much bends compared to the front doors. If the handle you bought doesn't come with this rod, so is the doorlatch. So the rod will come separate.
Check also from the picture below, and inspect the orange clip for damage. Since it was forcefully opened, it's possible the clip won't grip properly on the threaded edge of the rod.
This is an unusual problem. The most likely reason is that the supports inside the upper handle grip have broken, and when you squeeze the trigger, the rod that opens the reservoir assembly is not pushing open the valve. If you remove the upper tank, and look behind it, you should be able to see the end of the actuating rod sitting on top of a rubber valve assembly. Squeeze the trigger and watch the rod to see if it pushes down on the valve. If it doesn't, the upper handle grip will likely need replacement. If it does push down on the rubber seal, the reservoir assembly has probably failed and may need replacement.
If I recall correctly the door handle should be similar to the F150. The rod should have a plastic at the end that hooks to a mechanism where the inside door handle should go. I have a clip for you which you could use as reference.
In case the handle is different it may be the second type which connects directly to the handle. It should hook to the handle but you will have to turn the handle to get the rod locked. This video is from an explorer.
the outer handle is connected to the lock with a steel rod. If the outer handle has broken or the clip that holds the rod onto that handle has broken, then thats what you need to replace. You will need to remove the inside door trim to access the locks and rods. Remove the door trim as best you can if you are unable to open the door at all and reach into the door to access the inner door lock rod. Pulling or pushing the rod should allow you to open the door and remove the trim completely.
If there is no obvious damage to the outer door lock, check where the outer door handle rod connects to the lock itself as the clips holding the rods in place can fail. If the clips have failed, replace them with new clips from the vehicle manufacturer..
likely the rod from the handle to the latch has fallen off or the handle is broken where the rod attaches...you need to take the handle off and perhaps the door panel as well and take a look in there. It isn't hard to do but too long to write out. Either get a chiltons or haynes manual or just be careful and remove all screws. the bottom part is held on by push in "Christmas trees" or clips and just pulls out.
