Strictly a guess but I think it is the e-brake. I had similar issue. Tried new remote but continued. Eventually it caused the right motor to act as if it is "uncoiling" and abruptly locked up. When it does this the remote claims it is a connection problem but all connections appear to be ti

Thanks! I noticed today when going down the hill, if I stop and back up it seems to correct itself for awhile. Thank you for the tip!

This can be an aggravating problem with a simple solution. There are keyways on each axle shaft, and what oldtimers call a Woodruff key. That's the piece of metal that forces the wheels to turn with the axle. Try tightening the locknuts. If that doesn't work they can be replaced easily.

Hi Connie. The ticking noise could be several things. First, I would suggest you try tightening the lug nuts holding on the wheels. While they may seem tight, unless they are very, very tight, you can get a metallic sounding click from them...do both sides. If that doesn't work, the clicking sound may be coming from the tire bead-to-rim area on the wheels. When the tires are installed, they use an adhesive to secure the tire to the rim. After many miles and bumps, you break a spot at the rim and there will be a noise made on that tire every time you roll over it. You can try spraying some WD-40 on both the inside and outside of the rim/tire junction, drive it and see if that is the source. If you have driven your power chair over an unstable surface(wet grass, mud, gravel, sand etc.) and it has gotten stuck, or nearly stuck, you may have over-amped the motor trying to get loose, and this is damage that can only be repaired by a motor replacement. It shouldn't be a deal-killer, as the chair will still operate, just annoying until the motor quits. If you have the chair through insurance(medicare, etc.) they will pay for the repair. The electric brake shouldn't be ticking/clicking at all, unless there is something caught in it, and this is pretty hard to do. The brake is either on or off. When you hit the joystick, you will hear it click to unlock, and click again to lock when you release the joystick.

good luck!

Connie, a new motor is going to be very expensive, and a pain in the rear to replace. Since the chair is old, it would probably be a better idea to replace it with a new, used model. I have bought nearly new ones off of Craig's list for $400-$600, which is a lot cheaper than a new motor. You may need to replace the batteries if the chair you are looking at has been sitting off the charger for too long, as the onboard computer drains them down and kills them. A set(2) of sealed U-1 batteries ordered online should run about $150.00-$170.00 for the AGM type, and slightly higher for the gel batteries.

My 1999 Honda Shadow 1100 won't start. It just clicks. Lights, horn work and battery is new. any help?

Yes, the starter is bad (brushes 2 or 4 are worn), but you can fix it, unscrew 2 starter bolts (on the right side of starter) push the starter to the right using flat screwdriver, take it out and open it gently, you will see warn brushes (they slide on rotors surface, check that too, it should be flat and smooth. Buy brushes on ebay. Here is some help from youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHQJDhxZc0

Dashboard warning '; engine too hot stop car

The first thing I would do would be check the fluid level in the radiator. Sounds like the car is overheating under load due to lack of coolant. If the coolant level is ok then the radiator cap may be leaking pressure and causing the car to overheat.

I chainged the brushes on my scooter now my skooter is very slow going up hill but going down hill it picks up very fast can you tell me wat the problem is thank you

You can't install new brushes in these newer trans-axles without doing some work to the bushes. Take note of the old bushes, look at the side of the brush that contacts the commutator, ITs curved taking on the shape of the commutator... Whats important about this is that the entire side of that bush is making contact with the commutator. Brand new brushes are perfectly squared off not allowing for very good contact. Trans-axle motors run at around 10 amps, and they are regenerative so when going downhill you are putting a charge on the battery. Recharging the battery acts like load on the trans-axle motor now working as a generator. When the trans-axle is in generator mode depending on how you utilize the speed control lever will vary the load on the motor creating a dynamic breaking effect on the scooter. Well all those amps and loading amps go through the brushes and if they have a razor thin point of contact its not going to work to good. So you must get a griding wheel that is as close to diameter of the commutator as possible and fit the brush. You can take brushes and have them fitted at a motor repair shop. Or you can try blocking the drive wheels off the floor and just running the motor until the brushes wear down to the point were the amps flow. Are not scooters cool devices, hope this helps

Hi I have a Miele T250C and its jut stared making a clicking noise, could you help?? thanks

Hi the is a set of carbon brushes mounted on top of drum which measure the resistance of the clothes . The noise is most probably the brushes worn down and catching on drum as it rotates.if you remove the lid they are situated on the right hand side, gently lift arm and noise should disappear. If so you will require Part No. 5153702

Just replaced the brushes on a WE14 150 Quick 6 Grinder and sparks now come from the brushes

From my own experience.

Are the strips of the commutator smooth and flat?
(Not to insult you. The part of the armature that the brushes ride on)

If they aren't, the brushes will bounce up and down.
I put one end of the armature in a drill, and have a helper run the drill. The other end of the armature rests in the front bearing of the grinder head, which is fastened down. (To a bench) Then I use a medium tooth, (B astard) file to dress the commutator bars flat.

I also put medium grade sandpaper in-between the brushes, and the commutator surface to dress an arc on the brushes. (Turn the armature by hand while keeping the sandpaper in place)
Brushes come with a flat surface. Putting a radius on them to fit the arc of the commutator, gives them a good contact surface to start from.

Be sure the springs are putting pressure on the brushes. Sometimes the brush mounts need to be cleaned, or the brush will not slide through the mount like it should. The brush will again, 'Dance' on the commutator. (Bounce up and down)
