SOURCE: Sound on one channel from over the air antenna has suddenly become garbled. All others are fine.

If only one channel is affected it is not a problem usually with the set--it does not know what channel you are on---look in audio menu and make sure if set has SAP it is not on.

Do I need a digital converter box & antenna to get

It really depends upon your TV. If your TV is newer and has an ATSC tuner in it, then no - you'll just need the antenna. However, if your TV is older and doesn't have an ATSC tuner, you'll need an external tuner, what you're calling digital convertor, and an antenna to get the local channels. Use Google or another search engine to find the specifications for your TV to see if it has an ATSC tuner. Or, connect an antenna to your TV, run the channel scan (off-air antenna mode) to see if you get any local channels. If you don't, you'll need the external tuner.

How do I get local tv channels on my tv without cable hook up if I have a built in converter

You need to find out what antenna you need and the direction it should point to get your local stations. Antennas are given a color rating based on how far away the transmitter is that can still provide a good signal. The actual results may vary due to trees, hills and buildings.

antennaweb.org and tvfool.com are good starting points; just type in your address. Antennaweb.org is very conservative in the available channel list even with assuming you have an external antenna. Get the appropriate antenna and point it in the best direction for the channels you want. Connect it to the TV (coax) and set the TV to scan for OTA channels. (Usually the source or input must be TV and then enter the menu to set the TV to OTA signal and scan for all channels.) You do need an ATSC tuner these days.

If you are splitting the antenna signal to several TVs, you probably should add an amplifier to the setup.

I hope this helps.

Do i need just an antenna or one of those digital converter boxes to get just local channels in Denver on this TV?

If your TV was made after 2007 it should have the digital receiver built in. If so you can just hook any antenna you wish up and receive all your local channels.

Hi! I posted a few days ago about my elderly neighbors TV being disconnected from Dish and now she gets no signal on all channels. She has a TruTech Model (from back of TV) 008-09-0119. I disconnected the...

What kind of antenna is she using? If she is using an Over The Air antenna that was supplied by Dish it would be best to buy another type of antenna.
Please post back with her antenna type and the zip code you live in so I can help you further.

Television only locates 7 channels????!!!!!

Hi there!
If you cannot receive all channels it may be a fault with the antenna or the tuner may be faulty. If you have a VCR, you can tune that into the TV first and then tune the VCR to see if you then receive all channels. If so, use the VCR position on the TV to view and select or change channels on the VCR only. Good Luck,JUS004
