SOURCE: Kitchenaid pro stand mixer will not turn on

How comfortable are you with electrical parts? With the mixer UNPLUGGED and the switch ON measure resistance between the (flat) plug pins. If it's infinite (no meter movement) which is to be expected, there is an open circuit. The switch could be open or the wire to the switch could be disconnected (improbable) or the motor could be burned out and open (not very probable).

Maybe you could take the switch to a shop and have it tested.

This is not really a solution, just step 1.

SOURCE: kitchenaid mixer makes a lot of noise. The beater

Hi - I've been searching for general info on KitchenAid stand mixers and ran across this so I'm throwing my $.02 in... Since KA stand mixer bases are essentially made of cast metal parts, there is a very slim chance that there is a lateral misalignment (side-side) unless it got dropped...eek! Sounds like a head height adjustment issue. Check out this from KitchenAid Conversations:

http://forum.kitchenaid.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3032

Good luck.

SOURCE: My Kitchenaid mixer (k5ss lift bowl?) smells hot

I think you have a K45SS. It sounds like there is a problem with one of the gears, probably the worm gear. The worm gear is designed to be the first to fail if the mixer has struggled with a heavy dough or other difficult to mix substance. The best way to establish the cause will be to open the head up and check the gears for signs of damage.

SOURCE: I need the manual for my K5SS mixer my

Hi WWW_SOCRAFTI, you can easily download both the Owner’s Manual and Parts List manual for your K5SS mixer online from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM50P (Your K5SS mixer falls within this model range), and then select this file: KSM50PPWH0.pdf (5156.65 KB) from the Owners Manuals (9) list and this file: KSM50P.pdf (438.31 KB) listed under Parts List (4). Check to verify they match your mixer model. You can save them to your PC hard drive, and then you can print a hard copy if you wish, or just refer to it when you need to use it.
The reason I suggest downloading the Parts List manual is that should you decide to try and troubleshoot and fix your KA mixer, this manual will be invaluable in the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer along with listing all the part names and numbers. Having the correct part names and numbers is critical when reordering replacement parts when your mixer eventually will stop working.
Good Luck with your mixer, I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA

SOURCE: Bowl Lift

I had this problem and fixed it with some grease on the bowl lift lever. I used coconut oil for the grease as its obviously food grade. I greased the exterior which was the cause of the problem and the inside of the bowl lift lever. To get to the inside you can flip the mixer over (unplug it first) and remove the base with 3 screws to improve access. If further disassembly is reqired the C clip can be removed from the bottom of the mechanism and then slide the spring out. The bowl lift stand then comes out (you need to remove one screw if it catches) and you can easily reach inside. When putting it back together get someone with small hands. The C clip is easy to drop in the machine and easily lost.

What model kitchenaid was made in december of 1973?

Is the brushed band around the head missing or worn off? The model is on that band. If it worn or missing in order to correctly answer your question I need more information. Is your mixer a tilt head or a bowl lift variety? Did you look on the bottom of the base for a serial number? Some models had them there. Can you describe the ceramic piece a little better? Many models shard the same internal parts and it might not be too difficult to locate that part.

Where would I find a bowl lift replacement mechanism for a kitchenaid 5 qt mixer model K5SSWW.I have a kitchenaid 5 qt mixer model K5SSWW. I need a bowl lift mechanism replacement part but can't find this...

The model number seems to be valid-but given the age of the unit few parts are readily available. You might want to try eBay or a used appliance store (or even Goodwill) to find a donor machine.

I have a KitchenAid mixer KM25GOX NSF, Model serial number WT2333793. I purchased on eBay & it is in great condition, but the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl & the adjustment screw doesnt...

1. Unplug stand mixer.
2. Place bowl lift handle in down position.
3. Attach flat beater.
4. Adjust so flat beater just clears bottom surface of bowl
when in lifted position by turning screw
(A) Counterclockwise to lower the bowl.
5. Just a slight turn 90 degrees in either direction.
Place bowl lift handle in up position to check clearance.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 if necessary.
I hope I helped you.

The wisk is hiting the bowl how can i adjust

Hi FMOINIZ, by the symptom you are describing, you need to adjust your mixer’s Bowl to Beater Clearance. This is quite an easy task, and is explained in your Users Instruction manual that came with your mixer. If you do not have one, you can easily download a PDF version from the KA website at: ’t have the original manual you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number, in your case KSM150 and select the file listed for your model that appears under Owners Manuals (4) KP50PSWW0.pdf (2930.74 KB) and save that file to your PC. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the Bowl-Lift model mixer head height.
But to save you some time, I have extracted the instructions below:
Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
•Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.

Beater rubs bottom of mixing bowl.

JOE:You don’t say if you have a ‘tilt-head’or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number (in your case, use KSM90P)and select the last file listed that appear under Owners Manuals:KSM90PSWW0.pdf (2930.74 KB)and save that file to your PC.You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height.I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beaterjust clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits thebottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
