I don't think its a good idea to back the vms cover rings to 8. The furthest I'd go is maybe 6.
Changing the VMS cover rings on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#321"
the display should say VMS Cover Rings and ask for an extension number
enter the extension number you wish to change
The current ring data should be displayed
enter in new data (8 ring if you wish)
press feature "00" to logout

What you can do is go into the management console for your system and find the forwarding this is under extentions option 2 fwd/dnd select your extention number and on the bottom option FWD No Answer Time (s) set it to 10 or more and this will change the number of rings.

I use a KX - TDA600 PABX so I hope this helps

Change number of rings on incoming call before it goes to VMS

Changing the vms hunt delay on a Partner ACS system is done on either ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#505"
the display should say vms hunt delayand mode:
enter 1 for day mode or 2 for night mode
enter line you want to program in 2 digit format (line 1 =01)
enter number of rings (2)
press feature "00" to logout

Change number of rings to answer on iRC3170 fax

I believe, you just have to open the doors on the control pannel. It will show you more funcation of the fax. There should be a botton that say's "Data Entery" press it once and the display changes. Next you use the arrow bottons on the control pannel to move in that mode. Scroll down to Fax Setting and press the OK botton and scroll some more till you see number of rings and change it from 5 to 2 rings. Then press OK or Set, the press Stop/Rest twice and you should be done. It's alot hard to explain then doing it. It's called panich botton pushing..... Good luck
