Dose my tv (Hisense TL3000) is hd-tv ready

Is the antenna digital? If not its analog. Most stations are going to digital HD and dropping analog. The other 7 are still broadcasting analog. Ask station if they are still broadcasting analog if antenna is digital. If no, do a rescan of stations in menu of tv. Let me know.

If your TV has a digital tuner, you can get any HD channels if you use the correct antenna pointed at the transmitter and are close enough to the transmitters. (Antennas labeled as HD are not always appropriate for your location.) Your TV will downgrade the signal to 480i if the TV can't support a 720p or 1080i resolution.

First where do you live? Use antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to determine the correct placement of your antenna for your area/stations. AntennaWeb uses a very conservative signal strength calculation despite assuming an external antenna. Tvfool will give the antenna color rating which is also provided on the antenna package. When properly installed (with no trees or hills blocking the signal), the matching antenna should receive the listed channel.

If you use a splitter to share the signal with several TVs, you may need an amplifier to bring the signal strength to that needed for the tuner to interpret the digital signal. (Note: amplifiers and splitters can fail and the amplifier may become a signal filter blocking the signal; test the antenna strength on a direct connection if there is a problem.)

If you do not have a digital tuner in the TV, you may have gotten an SD digital to analog converter. These are the more common (and available with the government coupon) converters. You will need to get an HD capable tuner to see the full HD signal.

(antennaweb indicates that my external antenna should only get the stations 10 miles away. We actually receive the channels from 30 miles away. We use an amplifier splitter to feed the signal to several TVs. I set up two indoor antennas for a neighbor's TVs. One gets the signals from the transmitters 30 miles away and the other from the transmitter 10 miles away. Both get HD from the stations with HD broadcast (not all channels are in HD here). The difference is totally due to antenna placement.)

HD is pretty critical and if a indoor antenna do not expect much or anything for that matter.

HDTV indicates the number of lines that are shown by the TV. (HD means that at least 720 lines can be displayed in a given picture.) To receive OTA signals, you need an ATSC tuner (digital) of sufficient power (with a clear path to the transmitter) these days. The RCA D52W20 was released in 2002 and only has an NTSC (analog tuner). You will need a digital-to-analog converter to receive OTA TV (unless any low power analog stations remain in your area).

Please note that the basic digital-to-analog converters that were available with the government coupon back in 2009 were SD (480i lines of pixels used) units. HD d-t-a converters exist but are more expensive.

(the phrase "digital antenna" is meaningless; check with tvfool.com or antennaweb.org for the direction of local transmitters. TVfool.com will give more information on the type of antenna (indoor, outdoor, amplifier) that you will need to receive channels in your area. Antennaweb assumes an external antenna but is very conservative in the stations that it will indicate that you can receive. Antennas are given a color rating based on how far away the transmitter can be to get a watchable signal. Since digital signals are either enough for the tuner to interpret or you get a "no signal" message, you often need a stronger signal than was needed to receive a watchable analog channel.)

I don't know in what area you live & therefore how strong your reception area will be, but as a general rule an indoor antenna is never the best type of aerial to have to receive digital signals, you will always find that you pick up some good strong channels but more often the rest of the channels will be poor or non-existant & will constantly break-up/freeze etc. The best advice would be to try & fit an outdoor antenna if possible.

Try going into the setup menu and make sure it is set to antenna then do a channel program. You don't need to wait for a test there are plenty of channels already there. Both digital and analog channels are still available so you will still a message that you are not receiving digital if you are putting it on an analog channel. The channel number has to have a dot(.) in it like 8.1, 24.1 If there is no dot you are on an analog channel

the tuner on this tv will pick up the analog and the digital broadcast stations.
so yes you can get the analog stations , but you also get the digital or hd broadcast stations that are available

There are many variables here that could cause the problem. I can receive a few local HD channels ( within about 60 miles ) on my 57H94. I am not aware of any "HD specific" settings- it's all part of the receiving circuits in the TV. The first thing I would look at is to be sure you have a secure antenna connection. Then be sure you have selected the correct antenna input on the TV (there are two). HD channels, as an example will show up as 10-1, 10-2, etc. Most TVs have different sensitivity thresholds, regardless of size. Usually digital signals, including HD, are either there or not. In most cases if a TV picks up a decent analogue signal, a digital set should receive the digital signal, including available HD channels, as well. If you are going to use an antenna, rather than cable or satellite, try to get the best antenna you can afford, that will meet your physical requirements ( indoor / outdoor,etc.). Keep in mind that not all digital TV signal are HD. All of our local stations in this area transmit a digital signal, but true HD broadcasts remain variable.
